LoRa Cloud™ Locator and

Gateway - Getting Started Guide

As we explained on the trackers’ Getting Started Guide, as part of LoRa Cloud Locator setup, you will
need to decide whether you can use a public network to connect your tracker of if you should setup
your own private network. In case you decide to go with a private network, you should acquire
gateways to setup your own private network that will serve your trackers using AWS IoT Core for
LoRaWAN® and follow your device manufacturer instructions to setup your gateway.

This document provides step by step instructions on how to get gateways configured in LoRa Cloud
Locator.

1- Login into https://Locator.LoRaCloud.com

2- Select the Gateway Settings section by clicking on the link.

3- Under the Gateway Settings section of the web app, click on Add New Gateway.

4- In the new gateway popup window, provide the following information (please note the
values in the picture below are only for informative purposes):

a. Enter a friendly name for your gateway.

b. Enter the value for Gateway EUI (typically printed in your gateway, please refer to
your gateway manufacturer for instructions on how to find it).

c. Based on your location, select the right LoRaWAN® frequency band for the Gateway
Frequency Band.

d. Click on Create and you should see a popup with new Gateway’s supporting files
(certificates, keys). Make sure you click on Download and save the files to a safe
location (you might need to allow browser to download multiple files). The
downloaded files are:

i. cups_url.txt: Contains the URL that should be used in your gateway to point to
the CUPS server

ii. cups.trust: Contain the CUPS trust certificate

iii. cups.crt: Contain the certificate used to connect to CUPS server

iv. cups.key: Contain the private key used to connect to CUPS server

e. Once you click on the Close button, you should see your new gateway listed and its
status should be Disconnected.

5- Configure your gateway to use the CUPS URL and the provided certificates and keys. Please
follow your gateway manufacturer instructions on how to connect to your gateway for
performing these configuration changes and use the previously downloaded files
(certificates and keys) where required.

6- Once your gateway is properly configured, its status should switch to Online.
