Practical Application: Error Analysis


Description:
First. You need to think about a specific group of students( Early childhood
education, Primary Education, Secondary Education or adults) Here you need to
describe the class, number of students, level of english, age and also a brief
reference to the kind of school( private academy, language school, bilingual school,
university, etc.)
SECOND: you need to identify an área of errors within your class. You need to say
which problem area you have decided to work on and why. It is usually Good if you
explain the reason why this is one of the problems that you believe more work
should be done on.
THIRD. You need to come up with a step by step lesson plan that you could
integrate into the classroom to practise a target error in writing. This activity must
be an error-correctiion drill and you need to include the three steps:
1. Exemplification students have to presented with material that contains
mistakes all of which have to be related to the same problema área you
mentioned before. Be original and creative: This material can come in the
form of sentences or a text with mistakes or a recorded list of sentences
with errors, etc.
2. Drill: The important thing here is repetition. Devise an activity where
students have to provie correct sentences following a model.
3. Mechanical practice: be original. The important thig here is not repeting a
produttion of new instances or some decisión taking (some thinking

Objectives

Through this activities students should have a clear idea of how come up with an
activity that treats their students’ errors in writing.

Description

 Students should identify an area of errors within their class.

 Come up with an activity the students could integrate in the classroom to


practice a target error in writing.
• For example, prepositions.

 Students will write a step-by-step activity of how the teacher can target the
errors in class.
• This should be an error-correction drill and include the three steps:

Exemplification, Drill and Mechanical Practice.

 Students should provide the activity/task the students will have to do to help
modify their errors.
