I also heard of a fuse that is installed inline with the harness to the nav computer on some
models, it's one fuse inside a small plastic case (red i think). If it burns out, similar
symptoms are possible.

The black connector you found is to the GPS antenna box. MKI and MKII had external GPS
antenna module and were monted behind the TV Tuner. Since the first owner of the car didnt
want GPS the cables isnt connected..

I bought a complete 16:9 update with screen, MKIV and 16:9 tv tuner and since i plugged the
things in the nightmare has begun..

My problem is too complicated to describe but i can tell you that i have the same problem as
you but its NOT the TV tuner..!

A tip is that you pull the harnace with the black connector on and you may find another white
connector on that harnace, about 30 cm away. I connected that white connector instead and
then everything worked..

here in Swedish forum´s but no help yet..

Good luck..

I've read through your post several times and checked the NavTV file for more info but I can't
quite figure out which of the options (TV only, Nav only, both) I have a harness from.

Take a look at the pics.

The main harness has two connectors: blue and white. BOTH have to be connected to the TV
module for there to be an image on the screen. If you disconnect the white, it will not work.

The is also an extra harness which plugs into two connectors on the main harness. This is for
the nav - it has the blue and red connector and the GPS module connector. However, the nav
doesn't work when it's connected through this cable. Somebody said that the MK2 nav unit is
incompatible with an MK1 video module. But when I connect a MK2 TV module I get a
white screen?

The nav only works if you connect the blue tv module socket to the blue port on the nav drive.
In such a configuration, the white socket is loose and the extra nav harness is only needed for
the gps receiver.

My problem is that if you connect an MK2-4 TV module, you get a white screen. I need to
upgrade the video module for the 16/9 but what's the point if I can't even get an MK2 in there.

I am missing this tied away white socket. That's the only visible difference between my
wiring and my friend's car. This means I've got a wrong harness or something.
