The episode begins as the guards try to stop a break-in at a local prison by a supervillain named

Cinderblock. The Teen Titans respond to the attack. With their combined powers, they start to stop
Cinderblock, but the latter is too strong they are having a hard time knocking him down. Beast Boy
transforms into a dino and attacks Cinderblock, but he gets thrown toward Raven, who attempts to cast a
spell. Robin jumps onto Ciderblock's neck, but Cinderblock manages to tear a metal bar from the wall and
knock him away with it. Cyborg grabs a metal bar as well and engages in a sword fight with Cinderblock.
With a solid sweep, Cinderblock sends Cyborg away. Starfire then melts Cinderblock's metal bar, forcing
him to run. As Cinderblock attempts to escape, Robin and Cyborg team up for a maneuver called the
Sonic Boom to stop the villain, but their feet accidentally dangle with each other causing the sonic blast
to knock down Starfire and Beast Boy while Robin's explosive disc lands in front of Raven. While they are
down, Cinderblock breaks through several walls, allowing the inmates out of their cells. He stops at a
maximum security room and enters. Inside is a man in a stasis cell, sleeping. Cinderblock grabs the cell
before punching a hole in the floor and escapes through it with the man. The Titans then help the prison
guards rally the prisoners back to their cells. Because of the failed maneuver, Robin and Cyborg begin
blaming each other. Having enough of Robin's ego as the leader of the team, Cyborg declares he's
quitting the team before storming off, leaving the rest of the team in complete shock.

The next day, the Titans start to adjust to Cyborg's absence. Beast Boy tries to contact Cyborg, but he's
not picking up. Starfire, who has made awful-tasting pudding, offers everyone to cheer them up. Robin
does not care about it at first, but he gets eventually overwhelmed with guilt and sadness as he visits
Cyborg's quarters.

Meanwhile, Cinderblock arrives at his master's hideout with the stasis cell. Slade congratulates him and
tells him to proceed to phase two by waking up the sleeping man. The man gasps as the liquid inside the
cell begins to drain and tries to tell Slade he's only a man when he's asleep. Slade does not listen and
watches as the man transforms into a giant goo monster called Plasmus.

At the Titans Tower, the Titans receive an alert of an attack at the nearby waste management plant where
Plasmus is devouring the toxic wastes. The more he consumes, the more he grows bigger. As he chugs
down a barrel, the Titans arrive and attack him. Plasmus tries slowing down the Titans with his goo
attack. Starfire blasts a hole in his body, but he just regenerates. When Plasmus extends his arm, Robin
deploys a disk and freezes it. Plasmus screeches as he breaks his arm into pieces of ice crystals. The Titans
then deal a combined attack in an attempt to stop Plasmus, but they fail. His regenerative ability hinders
their success. Robin jumps in and kicks Plamus on the body but his feet get stuck. Plasmus then throws
him with a pool of sludge toward Beast Boy. Robin then traps Plasmus as Beast Boy rams him to the
ground. Raven then controls the metal bars, keeping Plasmus restrained.

As the Titans are about to respond to another attack by Cinderblock, who was sent by Slade to continue
their operation, Plasmus begins disintegrating into parts of sludge and escapes the restraints. The Titans
run outside and try to lock Plasmus inside the waste plant but their combined strength is not enough,
prompting Robin to order the others to separate. Starfire is ensnared by the snake-like goo while Beast
Boy fights off the claw-like goo. Raven tries to evade the octopus-looking goo while the other sludge
which takes the form of a claw chases Robin down a conveyor belt toward the acidic toxic waste. Robin
tries to fend off the monster with his battle staff, but the monster is too strong for him. Robin manages to
grab the end of the conveyor, but the monster latches onto him, making them too heavy. The metal
breaks off and Robin is about to fall into the acidic waste, but Cyborg grabs his hand and saves him while
the monster melts into the pot.

Cyborg mentions their failed maneuver from their first encounter with Cinderblock and Robin agrees.
Together, they prepare to fight Plasmus, who's now reduced to a small goo monster. Cyborg unleashes his
Sonic Blast as Robin deploys his explosive disk. Their attack destroys Plasmus and puts the man back to
sleep.

After the fight, the man is returned to a stasis cell and the authorities prepare to transport him back to
prison. Cyborg and Robin make up for their differences and agrees to become friends again. Robin notes
that though the captured Plamus, Cinderblock is still on the loose. Cyborg points to Cinderblock on
restraint behind him. He says he has captured Cinderblock and means to show Robin as a peace offering.
Robin suspects that another person is behind the attack as the break-in appears to be too detailed and
well-planned for someone like Cinderblock. Cyborg assures him that no matter who that person is, there
is nothing that the Teen Titans cannot handle.

Meanwhile, Slade smashes the glass mug with his fist in anger and vows to make the Titans pay for
ruining his plans.

On the next episode,

A thunderstorm is rampaging in the skies over Jump City. On the clouds, two mysterious figures dance to
the sounds of thunder and lightning, causing the thunderstorm. Meanwhile, Beast Boy sets a trap for
Cyborg at the Titans Tower when Raven arrives and confronts him. When they hear someone coming,
whom Beast Boy thinks is Cyborg, Beast Boy grabs Raven to hide. Unbeknownst to him, Cyborg is hiding
with them as well, and the one approaching was Starfire. Beast Boy tries to stop the trap, but he's too
late. The balloon explodes in her face. Starfire erupts in anger and calls Beast Boy a "Clorbag
Varblernelk", a slur for someone who pulls a mean prank on others. Suddenly, Robin arrives and informs
them of trouble in need of their assistance.

At a bridge, the two mysterious figures who caused the storms appear. They introduce themselves as the
brothers, Thunder, and Lightning, who seek to have fun wreaking havoc and instilling fear among the
bystanders. Lightning sends electricity to the bridge's suspension wires and Thunder uses his sound wave
attack to snap the wires. People start fleeing from their cars as they watch the brothers destroy several
cars. The Titans arrive and confront the brothers. Lightning attacks and Starfire tries to stop him. Cyborg
fights Thunder, who then attacks Robin after knocking him down. Raven and Beast Boy then team up to
take down Thunder. In the middle of the fight, Thunder approaches Beast Boy and expresses his
admiration for Beast Boy’s powers. Beast Boy then asks him the reason for destroying the city. He claims
that it was fun, but Beast Boy points to the scared onlookers. Thunder’s expression changes as if feeling a
sense of guilt. Lightning interrupts, and knocks down Beast Boy before convincing his brother to unleash
more chaos throughout the city.

To find the brothers, Robin suggests they split up and give everyone their respective search locations with
himself taking downtown, Cyborg taking the west side, Raven taking the east, and Starfire and Beast Boy
scanning from the sky. Beast Boy asks if he can be paired up with Cyborg instead, but he has no choice
since Cyborg cannot fly. Starfire is still upset with his prank earlier that day.

Starfire and Beast Boy arrive at a building ground that has just been destroyed by the brothers. Beast Boy
apologizes to Starfire, but she doesn’t accept his apologies even when he transforms into a cat. As they
continue to examine the place, Thunder and Lightning arrive. Thunder goes after Starfire while Lightning
tries to hit Beast Boy with his lightning blasts. Beast Boy manages to evade the attacks by transforming
into different animals before eventually taking the form of a bull and ramming Lightning down the
ground. Starfire and Thunder blast each other, but her powers are stronger than his, which sends him
flying backward. While Beast Boy approaches Thunder, Lightning fights Starfire. Beast Boy takes down
Thunder and convinces him to stop what they’re doing for the sake of innocent people.

Suddenly, an old man arrives with a device resembling a camera and activates it. A huge red energy blast
emerges from the device, and breaks through the statues before hitting Starfire. Amidst the rubble, the
brothers listen as the old man speaks to them. The man claims that he has a power drawn from nature
like theirs and convinces them to come with him to unleash more destruction. Lightning agrees, but
Thunder is hesitant and asks if the destruction will harm innocent people. The man explains that it
doesn’t matter if they will as they are unique and powerful. Lightning follows the man as he leaves, and
so is Thunder, who’s quite hesitant.

As soon as they disappear, Beast Boy emerges from the rubble as a spider and desperately digs in search
of Starfire. He starts apologizing for his behavior when Starfire suddenly walks up behind him. Glad that
she’s alive, Beast Boy jumps in her arms as a cat before transforming again, trying to plead. Starfire
assures him she has forgiven him and that they need to find the brothers first. Beast Boy tells her he feels
they are not evil, but instead, they are just like him.

Meanwhile, the old man takes the brothers amidst a forest where he orders them to set a bunch of
scarecrows on fire. After finishing their task, they demand more, but the man stops them and tells them
they have done enough. He then throws a marked disk into the sky which joins the fires of the
scarecrows, forming the shape of a man. A gigantic fire monster emerges, and the man orders it to burn
everything. The Titans then appear and confront them, but the monster sweeps them away before
charging toward Jump City. Overcame by guilt, Thunder questions what they have done.

The Titans run after the monster and try to clear the trees on its path to avoid spreading fire. Cyborg then
blasts the monster, hoping to take it down, but it was too powerful. Meanwhile, the old man orders the
brothers to follow their creation and Thunder obliges reluctantly. Robin arrives and confronts the old
man. As the monster proceeds to the city, Raven tries extinguishing its fire, but fails. It unleashes a fire
blast that sends the Titans down to the ground as Lightning and Thunder arrive to attack them.

Thunder orders Beast Boy to step aside but the latter refuses. Beast Boy tells him that though the old
man tells them they’re unique, their powers only make sense by the way they use them. This makes
Thunder realize they are in the wrong and stops Lightning from finishing off Starfire. Lightning rages from
the betrayal and blasts his brother away. Meanwhile, the old man overpowers Robin and pins him against
a tree. Cyborg, Raven, and Beast Boy rush toward the city to stop the approaching monster. Thunder is
knocked toward a rock and asks Lightning if they are still having fun, to which Lightning denies. Lightning
realizes they did wrong as he observes the monster wreaking havoc in the city. Thunder tells him to look
at the Titans, who are using their powers to do good, unlike them. To stop the monster, the brothers then
combine and create rain, extinguishing the flames of the fire monster.

Meanwhile, the old man holds Robin by the neck, but a bolt of lightning strikes his staff which forces him
to release Robin. The man faces Robin, who notices that the old man wears a mask that has begun to
crumble, revealing himself to be Slade. He disappears into thin air, leaving a mark, which Robin
recognizes. Afterward, the brothers apologize for their improper behavior, and Thunder thanks Beast Boy
for playing a huge part in making them realize the good.

When the rain stopped, the Titans watch as the rainbow appears on the horizon. They wonder why Slade
wants to destroy the city, and vows to know the reason behind it.
