 About The Institute
Our College of Ceramic Technology was
established in 1941 by Professor Sasadhar Ray
who was an eminent and educationist and the
first Principal of the college. At that time the
college was named as Bengal Ceramic Institute
Calcutta, which later on flowered into College
of Ceramic Technology. Professor Ray was one
of the pioneers in spreadin ceramic education
in India.

& technologists.

M3: To motivate students for acquiring and eventually generating advanced knowledge.

I, on behalf of all faculties and staff, welcome you heartily to the
Government College of Engineering and Ceramic Technology (GCECT),
Kolkata. I also congratulate you for choosing GCECT to reach the goal.
This Institute (established on 3rd April, 1941), the then College of
Ceramic Technology (Bengal Ceramic Institute) has been one of the
oldest technological colleges in Kolkata and the only full-fledged
college in India offering B. Tech, M. Tech. and Ph. D. programs in
Ceramic Technology along with hands on trainings in traditional
potteries and other ceramic products since its inception. The college Prof. Krishnendu Chakrabarty

has already completed 75 years of its glorious existence. The alumnus Principal
of the institute are well established in their professional career and

The Department of Computer Science and Engineering,

11.1% established in the year 2001, is amongst the youngest
amongst the three departments of the institute. At present,
the department is offering a 4-year B. Tech. course in
Computer Science & Engineering, with an intake of 40
students in the first year and 8 more as lateral entry in the
second year.

Bengal. The duration of study of this course is 4 years (8
semesters) and total intake in each discipline is 40+8
(lateral entry) students. The B.Tech course in Ceramic
Technology is NBA accredited.

'Tech Club' is located at the heart of the campus of Govt College Of Engg. & Ceramic Technology (GCECT). Here in GCECT where people lead a busy life,
the name 'Tech Club' itself brings a breeze of happiness, relaxation, pleasure and many joyous moments to the students who are in love with
technology . It is truly a place for techno freaks to create or work on something new beyond their hectic schedules. As many of the GCECT community do
not often get a chance to meet their relatives, Tech Club provides a unique opportunity to make them forget their homesickness by hosting various
events throughout the year on various technologies and gaming sessions. It in essence gives a 'home away from home feeling' to the club members
making a big joint family of techno freaks who came together to create something new in this ever developing modern world.

GDSC GCECT Club GCECT SWA

Google Developer Student Clubs (GDSC) are community groups for
college and university students interested in Google developer
technologies. Students from all undergraduate or graduate
programs with an interest in growing as a developer are welcome.
By joining a GDSC, students grow their knowledge in a peer-to-peer
learning environment and build solutions for local businesses and
their community.
GCECT Students’ Welfare Association(SWA) is apolitical and non-
profitable welfare association which works on behalf of the entire
students’ entity. All students of GCECT are a part of the Students’
Welfare Association. Students’ Welfare Association of GCECT is
registered under the “West Bengal societies registration act 1961”.
The registration number is S/2L/47844 of 2015-2016.

CodeChef GCECT Chapter Robotics Club ( BloodFire)

The mission of GCC is to build a robust competitive
programming culture on campus and to help students become
better problem solvers fostering learning and professional
development
The mission of BloodFire Robotics Club is to unite students in an
educational environment and provide students a place to pursue their
interest in mechanical, electronic, and software design by working on large
and small scale robotics projects. Having said that we take pride in talking
about our projects, be it autonomous bots, humanoids, swarm of tiny
robots, robotic arms or aerial vehicles, we haven't left any stone unturned
