About The Institute
Our College of Ceramic Technology was
established in 1941 by Professor Sasadhar Ray
who was an eminent and educationist and the
first Principal of the college. At that time the
college was named as Bengal Ceramic Institute
Calcutta, which later on flowered into College
of Ceramic Technology. Professor Ray was one
of the pioneers in spreadin ceramic education
in India.

& technologists.

M3: To motivate students for acquiring and eventually generating advanced knowledge.

From The Principal
I, on behalf of all faculties and staff, welcome you heartily to the
Government College of Engineering and Ceramic Technology (GCECT),
Kolkata. I also congratulate you for choosing GCECT to reach the goal.
This Institute (established on 3rd April, 1941), the then College of
Ceramic Technology (Bengal Ceramic Institute) has been one of the
oldest technological colleges in Kolkata and the only full-fledged
college in India offering B. Tech, M. Tech. and Ph. D. programs in
Ceramic Technology along with hands on trainings in traditional
potteries and other ceramic products since its inception. The college Prof. Krishnendu Chakrabarty

has already completed 75 years of its glorious existence. The alumnus Principal

technology . It is truly a place for techno freaks to create or work on something new beyond their hectic schedules. As many of the GCECT community do
not often get a chance to meet their relatives, Tech Club provides a unique opportunity to make them forget their homesickness by hosting various
events throughout the year on various technologies and gaming sessions. It in essence gives a 'home away from home feeling' to the club members
making a big joint family of techno freaks who came together to create something new in this ever developing modern world.
