Admission Process

The admission will be purely on the basis of the marks secured in the VITEEE-2018, conducted by VIT University.

Candidates who have not appeared for the VITEEE are not eligible for admission.

Candidates will be short-listed based on their entrance examination rank and will be called for the counseling.
Eligibility Criteria

Candidates appearing for the VITEEE should have secured an aggregate of 60% in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics/Biology
in the qualifying examination (+2/Intermediate).

The average marks obtained in the subjects Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics or Biology (PCM/PCB) in +2 (or its
equivalent) put together should be 50% for the following categories:

Candidates belonging to SC/ST:

Fill in the proforma as given in Annexure III and have it attested by a competent authority (The list of authorities empowered
for the same is given in Annexure III).

For candidates hailing from Jammu and Kashmir and the North Eastern states of Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur,
Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim, and Tripura. Fill in the CERTIFICATE TO PROVE NATIVITY (proforma given in
Annexure III).

These documents should be produced at the time of counseling, failing which they will not be considered for
admission.

In case, the mark statement is not produced by the candidates at the time of admission, the decision of the Management
regarding his/her eligibility and admission to the programme shall be final.

Even though the admission is done as per the VITEEE ranking, the candidate has to fulfill the eligibility norms mentioned.

Candidates who have studied Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics are eligible for all the B.Tech. Degree Programmes.

Candidates who have studied Physics, Chemistry, and Biology are eligible for B.Tech. Bioengineering and B.Tech.
Biotechnology programmes. They are also eligible for ECE with specialization in Biomedical Engineering, B.Tech. Computer
Science and Engg (Spec.in Bioinformatics) but after joining, registering for Mathematics as bridge course is mandatory.

Age Limit:

Candidates whose date of birth falls on or after 1 st July are eligible to apply for VITEEE. The date of birth as recorded in the
High School / SSC / X Certificate will be considered authentic. Candidates should produce this certificate in original as proof
of their age at the time of counseling, failing which, they will be disqualified. Candidates must have completed the age of 17
years as on 1st July of the admission year.

Facilities
Boys Hostel

There are 17 Men's Hostels, which accommodate 13000 students in single, double, Three, four bedded and six bedded rooms.
A gym facility is also attached with a well maintained swimming pool.

Girls Hostel

The 6 Women's Hostels have room for 4300 students. Women students have access to gym facilities and a newly built
swimming pool inside one of these hostel premises. Individual metering service for those who want A/C facilities is also
provided. Optional washing services are provided in well maintained separate washing areas.

Medical/Hospital

The Health Centre, in the institution, is located in the A L Mudaliar block. It is a fully-equipped facility, currently run by the
Chettinad Medical Group. It caters any student's medical need, 24x7.

Gym

VIT's newest facilities for students include four gymnasia, two exclusively for men, one exclusively for women and one shared
by both. A central multi-facility piece of equipment for the men enables several enthusiasts to work out at the same time in
one of the gymnasia for men. The other men's gym today has 16 stations with the latest equipment.

Library

The Central library spreads over to ground plus six floors with an area of 7770 sq.m. It is centrally air-conditioned, well-
protected with fire alarm, Flap Barrier and CCTV surveillance. It has specialized collections of Books, Journals & other resources
in Sciences, Engineering and Technology, Biotechnology, Humanities, Social Sciences and Management ranging from printed
books, e-books, back volumes and CDs\DVDs. The Central Library subscribes to national and international journals in print and
e-Journals. The library has a video conferencing facility and NPTEL video courses, ePGpathashala, Swayam Programme and
other E-Learning resources initiated by Government of India. Central Library is using LIBSYS software for Library automation
and implemented RFID technology with self issue and return kiosk, WEB-OPAC (Online Public Access Catalogue), and online
renewal facility.

Sports

To achieve a healthier lifestyle while coping with the pressures of studying, one needs to be healthy both emotionally and
physically. As a part of this process, VIT emphasizes the importance of sports and considers them as an integral part of the
curriculum. VIT has a number of centers for physical education and sports activities that help the students maintain fitness
and develop a competitive spirit. Its numerous outdoor playgrounds and indoor courts are spread over a 20-acre area.

I.T Infrastructure

VIT University campus boasts of one of the best computing networks in India. With constant upgradation in a bid to provide
the students and staff with state-of-the-art facilities, the Institute has earned a reputation of excellence across a range of
computer-based disciplines. Its comprehensive infrastructure includes 93 Servers, 499 Workstations, 4232 Desktops (Intel
& AMD), 489 Printers and over 1170 Laptops (Dell, HP, IBM & Lenovo).

Cafeteria

VIT has been amply blessed with three fully equipped multi-cuisine canteens present at three strategic locations in college.
Two at the far ends of college, one each in GD Naidu Block and the Silver Jubilee Tower and one more at the center of the
college near the Technology Tower. All the three canteens are on a contract basis with external caterers and provide quality
food at very student friendly prices. Hosting a wide array of cuisines and dishes, they cater to students home-style food from
every corner of the country with no compromise on the quality.

Auditorium

Our University firmly believes in providing its student's exposure to national and international knowledge experts, through
regular national and international conferences/symposia and workshops hosted on campus. It is with this view that a wide
choice of modern conference facilities have been meticulously planned and incorporated into the VIT campus. ‘Anna Audi ‘
commonly used by students is nothing short of being a marvel. Able to accommodate 1800 students and spread over an area
of 15436 sq. feet, it has been built with centralized air conditioners, Wi-fi service and a spectacular stage along with green
rooms and perfect amount of lighting. This auditorium is used for various events and conferences. It is located beside the
volleyball and basketball courts and serves as THE landmark in VIT. Anna Auditorium (Seating capacity – 1400) Dr. M. Channa

Transport Facility

VIT buses ply to nearby major town Gudiyattam, Walaja, Arcot, Ranipet, and Vellore towards commuting of 40% of the staff
and students residing outside at concessional rates.

Alumni Associations

The VIT Alumni Association has been envisaged to foster a closely knit network bridging the gap between young budding
VITians and the accomplished Alumni. Our Alumni have made us proud time and again by achieving laurels round the globe
and we wish to showcase the same to our entire VIT family.
Swimming Pool

VIT also offers separate swimming facilities for men and women students. The Men's 50m x 25m floodlit swimming pool has
eight lanes and the necessary facilities to conduct international-level competitions. The floodlit women's swimming pool is
25m x 12m, and is in the new Women's Hostel premises. Separate swimming coaches for men and women are available at
particular times at the pools, which are open from 6 AM to 7.30 PM everyday.

Classrooms

The classrooms are well-designed rooms that incorporate everything needed for a pleasant learning atmosphere. The wide
spacious classrooms contain a whiteboard and also a projector that is used for teaching so a professor can switch to different
modes of teaching as and when required so the teaching isn’t monotonous and the lectures are put across in the best way
possible. This hi-tech equipment enables our faculty to conduct classes in a way that enable students to make use of every
available resource from one point at the click of a button. These classrooms are also often used for seminars and events from
time to time.

Guest Room/Waiting Room

The guesthouse is primarily meant for the visiting family members of students and for the official guests of the university.

Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT) is a deemed private university that was founded in 1984. VIT is situated in the district of
Vellore, Tamil Nadu. VIT is also recognised as an Institution of Eminence by the Government of India. This institution provides

Clubs, Societies and Committees:-

Students’ Clubs- These clubs help students prepare themselves for leadership and team-building skills.

Arts and Literature Clubs: Following are the clubs included in the Arts and Literature Club in VIT:

Animation Club: This Club organizes workshops in different areas of animation.

Dance Club: This club deals with dance art forms both regional and western. It also gives an opportunity for students
to perform.
DEBSOC: This is a debating club which is abbreviated as Debate Society.

Dramatics Club: VIT conducts stage plays, street plays, mono-acting and acting workshops in this club.

Fine Arts Club: VIT organizes workshops on script-writing, cinematography, movie-making, movie-analysis and other
activities related to the appreciation of films.

Music Club: This Club imparts musical knowledge to the students who are interested in music. Guitarists, keyboard
players, bassists, drummers, violinists, and vocalists are part of this club.

Photography Club: This Club provides a platform for all photographers and students who are keen to learn
photography. Students can share their ideas, vision, photographs and technical knowledge with the interested.

Quiz Club: This Club helps to establish quizzing as a mind sport among university students.

Community Radio Club: This Club operates under the frequency of 90.8 MHz. It covers the events organized in VIT,
interviews of internal and external participants and guests.

Creativity Club: Creativity Club provides a platform for students to display their creative side in various academic and
non-academic fields. It organizes a variety of programmes related to education, social, culture, recreation and
entertainment.

Heritage Club: The main focus of this club is about important cultural and natural heritage.

Nature Lovers’ Club: This Club aims at increasing awareness among the students and providing them with knowledge
on various environmental activities.

SPIC MACAY Club- This Club focuses on Indian classical music and dance, folk music, yoga, meditation, crafts and other
prominent aspects of Indian culture.

MUNSOC Club- This is the abbreviated name for Model United Nations Society. This Club organises competitions in
collaboration with giant organizations like the United Nations Information Centre for India and Bhutan, Global Citizen
India and HeForShe.

Technical Clubs-
Alpha Bio Cell- This club gives an opportunity to the students to grow and develop into skilled individuals and obtain
knowledge on business endeavours. This Club also nurtures leadership so that bio-entrepreneurs lead in the scientific
arena and in the corporate world

Apple Developers Groups- This Club was established under the Apple University Program. This Club helps understand
the latest technologies that are required to develop iOS applications. It also encourages and assists budding developers to
create better versions.
Archi-Tech Club- This Club helps establish and maintain a community of young learners with a common interest in
architecture and design. This Club also helps in facilitating the knowledge and skill development through seminars and
workshops related to areas like digital architecture, visual merchandising, model making, spatial ideation exercises, and
graphical manifestation creations– execution works.

Bulls and Bears- This is the Finance Club of VIT. It develops finance-related activities and careers in VIT students. The
main objective of this club is to spread awareness in the areas of finance, investment banking, stocks and trading, private
wealth management, etc.

GDG Club- This is an abbreviation for Google Developers Group. This Club helps young students to understand and learn
how Google is run, its properties and much more. VIT students are also encouraged to create different versions, websites,
etc for Google.

CSED Club- The full form of this Club is Centre for Social Entrepreneurship Development. This Club helps in nurturing
young minds on how they can develop, fund and execute solutions to social, cultural, or environmental issues.

CodeChef Club- This Club was created to help programmers cherish themselves in the world of algorithms, computer
programming, and programming contests. This Club helps in learning to host a programming contest and face challenges
related to programming. It also aims in training sessions and discussions related to algorithms, binary search,
technicalities like array size and the likes.

Dream Merchants- Dream Merchants is the committee which deals with providing a thrust to the exchange of
knowledge through interactive seminars, debates, mock forums, and similar activities. Through DM, the student
community engages in multiple events like Talk shows on preparing industry-ready acumen and skills, industry insiders'
insights, etc with the purpose of career advancement. It also organises events like Financial Forum, Mutual Fund Meeting,
and Budget Mock on a regular basis.

E-Cell- Also known as the Entrepreneurs Cell, this club helps in fostering an entrepreneurial spirit among the students
gives them a platform to convert their ideas into businesses. The purpose of E-Cell is to create a culture of
entrepreneurship among the students.

Innovator’s Quest- This club gives a platform to the students to gain knowledge on the latest techniques and concepts
to make themselves technically sound with also encouraging them to exchange ideas. It also helps them to move towards
a more professional pedestal and develop a wider scope of ideas with a positive outlook on research through various
workshops and guest lectures.

IoThinC- The abbreviation of this Club is the Internet of Things Club. This Club helps in increasing awareness of
opportunities presented by Internet of Things as a growing concept, to provide a social platform for Internet of Things
enthusiasts and to network and connect with experts within the field.

Mozilla Firefox- This Club helps students get experience on the internet and other such application to provide a platform
to develop free and open-source software and tools using Mozilla products. Programmes that encourage invention,
inspire innovation and foster global change using Mozilla products.

RoboVITics- The full form of this club is the Robotics Club of VIT. This Club provides a base for students who are into
robotics to progress and contribute to this field. This Club helps to facilitate students to understand, design and learn
robotics and also provides efficiency in the field of robotics, control, and automation; and to expand the scope beyond
VIT.

Solai Club- This is an abbreviation of Sustainable Organic Living with Agricultural Initiatives. This Club helps in realizing
Vellore district as an ideal model for the implementation of sustainable agricultural at farm and home. Various events are
planned and organised to craft knowledge for students. Field visits, data documentation hands-on training for Kitchen
gardening, food waste composting, minimizing food storage losses, cultivation of household medicinal plants etc are
some of the activities done in this Club.

SABEST- The full form of this club is the Students Association of Bio-Engineering, Science and Technology. This club aims
at inculcating ideas amongst the students through activities like group discussion and guest lectures. It also makes the
students be aware of the recent happenings and groundbreaking research relevant to the field.

TAG- The abbreviation to this club is Technology and Gaming Club. This Club aims at inculcating a gaming environment
for the students who are interested in gaming. This Club helps facilitate the development of skills related to game
development and other important domains of modern computing to give the students a competitive edge in the modern
computing industry.

The Catalyst Club- The Club provides a better understanding of chemistry, to promote and improve education in
chemistry, to familiarise the individuals with chemistry, and to provide an opportunity for individual participation and
professional growth. It also provides assistance in the field of chemistry and encourages students to exchange thoughts
and ideas. It promotes the distribution of chemical knowledge through seminars and visiting lecturers.

TEC- The full form of this club is The Electronics Club. This Club aims at providing students with a platform and resources
to gain practical skills. It also helps students acquire and develop new skill-sets by conducting various lectures and
workshops programmes to help students realize their projects.

Ventursity Club- The motto of this Club is “Innovation and Upskilling through hackathon”. This Club focuses on
developing problem solving skills of our members as well as other university students by taking part in quality hackathons
or organizing them.

Visual Blogger’s Club- This Club provides a platform for aspiring and visual bloggers. Visual blogging is a type of content
blogging that connects with readers using visual content like images, infographics, and mini-infographics. It also
encourages writing visual blogs to express their ideas.

Social Outreach Clubs-


Anokha- this is a non-profit organization that works towards the welfare of the underprivileged kids. Their basic aim is to
reach out to the children of Vellore and to teach English as well as speaking and communication skills to the children in
the orphanages.

Ayuda- This is a youth-led organization that works to improve health, to eliminate illiteracy and to provide assistance to
the old. Students at Ayuda work with the common goal for the upliftment of the society and bring sustainable changes in
the lives of old and underprivileged children.

BIF-The full form of this club is Becoming I Foundation. This is an internationally recognized youth-led organization that
makes students engage with community development issues. Through projects in the fields of women empowerment,
trafficking, primary education, alternate sources of employment, leadership training, life skills development and youth
empowerment.
FEPSI- The full form of this club is Forum for Empowering People through Social Innovation and entertainment. This club
helps transform the world into an ideal place to live sustainably by empowering the people is through innovative
methods. This is a youth-driven organization working towards a fairer, more egalitarian society.

E2PC- The full form of this Club is Energy & Environment Protection Club. This is the official eco-club of VIT. This Club aims
to work at a ground level, to protect and conserve the environment and make students take up responsibility on matters
related to "Blue Planet".

VIT Fifth Pillar- This is a non-profit organization that aims to encourage, enable, and empower every citizen to eliminate
corruption at all levels in the societies. The main objective of this club is to strengthen democracy by preparing the
students to be dutiful and patriotic citizens in all aspects.

GGB- GGB is the abbreviation of Good Girls And Boys. This club is a youth organization that aims to promote and spread
awareness about sustainable development amongst youngsters. The goals of this club surround a wide variety of issues
plaguing our societies.

Juvenile Care- This is a charitable trust that works for the welfare of underprivileged kids and provides complete child
education. It helps college students to utilise their time to work for orphanage workshops, Microsoft Office workshops in
schools and orphanages, medical camps in slums and villages and teacher training programmes.

Kalvi- This club uplifts the marginalized living in villages. This club helps

provide quality education, vocational training, and healthcare. Changing powerless to power through education, assessing
skills and training, social factors, collective efficiency are the objectives of this club. It also organises events to educate the
uneducated to help to improve the lifestyle of the youth group through education.

Leo Club- LEO stands for something, ie, Leadership, Experience and opportunity. This Club was established to develop
and nurture the youth to ensure a better tomorrow, by serving the needy.

MAD- The full form of this club is Make A Difference. This is a youth-driven and non-profit organization that works on
ensuring fair outcomes for children in orphanages and street shelters. This club also provides a platform for youngsters
to change the way things are in the country.

NCC- National Cadet Corps is the full form of NCC. This club helps in developing qualities of character, courage,
comradeship, discipline, leadership, and secular outlook.

Rotract Club- This Club is a dedicated student community that shares a passion for community service and friendship
whilst focussing on improving the lifestyle of the underprivileged. Rotaract Club develops leadership and professional
skills.

RRC- This is the abbreviation for Red Ribbons Club. RRC aims at utilising the potential of the youth by giving them correct
information on Mental Health, Substance abuse, Nutrition, and reproductive & Sexual health.

Uddeshya- This is a social outreach organisation and its motto is "Empowering Youth- Fueling Change". It provided a
platform for potential students to implement their ideas and work as community leaders to address various issues.

HEARTS- It is the abbreviation for Higher Education for All to Realize Transformation of Students. This club comes under
UHET- Universal Higher Education Trust. the purpose of this Club is to create awareness on the importance of higher
education at various levels.

Fitness and Beyond- This Club aims at solving problems related to fitness among the students. Proper nutrition,
moderate-vigorous physical exercise, and sufficient rest are some of the activities done in this club. This club also has
counsellors, yoga masters, bodybuilders, athletes, sportspersons, etc.

Health Club- This club ensures that the students are getting proper knowledge of good health and nutrition. Students
also get support services that provide basic life skills for healthy living. This club promotes effective learning by
supporting students to increase their knowledge and understanding of health issues and guide them to adopt positive
behaviours to prevent poor health.

Sports- This club helps students achieve a healthier lifestyle cope with a studious environment. VIT has various centers
for physical education and sports activities to help students maintain physical fitness. It has numerous outdoor
playgrounds and indoor courts are spread over a vast area.

Trekking Club- This Club promotes hiking, trekking, camping, mountaineering, and allied open-air activities. This Club
also conducts several substantial events on marathons, triathlons, environment awareness drive and conferences that
inspire the students to take up a sport and outdoor activities. The Club also conducts regular treks, runs, cycling events,
swimming events and camping on a regular basis.
