Best Friends’ Day Out

Asked to write about a day with her friends, Jovie gives us a short look into a
sleepover she had with them.

Last Sunday, Hailey, Amy and I went to Sandy’s house to sleep over. We were all
very excited. First, Sandy showed us her house and where we’ll sleep. Next, we went to
the park to walk Sandy’s dog, Katie. She was really cute.

Then, Sandy’s mum took us to the mall to have dinner. We had Chinese food for
dinner. It was yummy! Lastly, Sandy’s mum bought a cake to celebrate Sandy’s
birthday. We had a great time together.

The Gingerbread Man
Here is Jayden giving us his retelling of a classic story

One day, Grandma wanted to make a Gingerbreadman. When she baked the
Gingerbread man, it ran out of the home. Grandma felt amazed! Grandpa saw grandma
trying to catch the Gingerbread Man. Grandpa went to help at once. Then, a pig and
dog also tried to catch the Gingerbread Man. Once they ran out of road to run on, the
Gingerbread Man jumped onto the water. Lastly, the dog jumped into the water. The dog
ate the Gingerbread Man in the end.

The Gingerbread Man
Hayley too would like to retell the tale of this quick biscuit

Before Christmas day, my grandmother bought dough, white sugar, and baked
gingerbread. I was very surprised and happy. Suddenly, the Gingerbread Man jumped
down onto the dishes and kept on running. Then, my grandmother and grandparents
went to catch the Gingerbread Man but it ran too fast. The Gingerbread Man ran on the
street. A dog nearby saw it and very much wanted to eat it, so it ran after it too. Lastly,
the dog caught and ate it. The dog said, “It was delicious!”

Little Red Riding Hood
Chloe tells us a grizzly tale of a young girl and a hungry wolf

One day, Little Red Riding Hood’s mother sent her to her grandmother. “Be
careful, bye,” her mother said kindly and she set off. On the way, she met a friendly wolf.
After she arrived at her grandmother’s door, she knocked on the door. While she was
knocking on the door, the wolf was eating her grandmother and changing into her
grandmother’s clothes. After she knocked on the door, the wolf said, “Come in.”

After she went inside, she went to her grandmother’s bedside, but she found
something strange. “Why are your ears so big?” Little Red Riding Hood asked curiously.

“So I can hear you better,” the wolf replied.

“And why are your ears so big,” she asked.

“So I can see you better,” the wold replied

“Why does your mouth need to be so big?” she asked

“So I can eat you better!” the wolf replied and ate Little Red Riding Hood.

Luckily, a hunter passed by, saw the wolf and killed him. He rescued Little Red
Riding Hood and her grandmother. They thanked the hunter a lot.

Little Red Riding Hood
The author gives a masterful take at retelling the classic story of Little Red
Riding Hood

A long time ago, there was a girl called Little Red Riding Hood. One day, Red
Riding Hood’s mother asked her to give her grandmother some food. Then, she started
her journey into the deep forest.

When she got there, a wolf said, “Welcome to the Scary Forest! Where are you
going?” After he said, he sneered as Little Red Riding Hood fell into his trap. Then, the
wolf said, “Look at those flowers! Aren’t they beautiful?”

“I can pick some for my grandma!” she exclaimed while she headed towards the
flower beds. The wolf asked her where her grandmother lives and Little Red replied that
she lives across the woods. The wolf mumbled, “Hehe, she fell for it again.” The wolf left
and ran to her grandmother’s house.

After picking flowers, Little Red Riding Hood went to her granny’s hut. She
knocked on the door and the wold replied, “Come in, my dear.”

She walked slowly into Granny’s bedroom and said,”Grandma, why are your
eyes so big?”

“So I can see you better!” the wolf explained.

“Grandma, why are your ears so big?”

“So I can hear you better!” the wolf replied.

“Grandma, why are your teeth so big?” Little Red asked.

“SO I CAN EAT YOU!” the wolf screamed and swallowed Little Red Riding Hood
in one big gulp. “Delicious!”

A hunter nearby was trying to hunt. He heard the wolf scream, so he proceeded
to cut his belly in half. This set Little Red Riding Hood and her grandmother free. They
both said, “Thank you so much!”
