1.0 GENERAL/SCOPE
This procedure is applicable for ready-mixed concrete produced from the approved
batching plants which shall supply the concrete for the permanent works of the
construction of Dhaka Mass Rapid Transit Development Project, Contract No. CP-02.
2.0 SPECIFICATIONS AND REFERENCE DOCUMENTS
Relevant specification is contained in Work Requirement, Section XII: Specification –

Particular Specifications, Part 02, Sub Clauses 2: Concrete Work, Sub Clauses 3: Piling
works(cast-in-situ), Sub Clauses 4: Reinforcement for Structure, and Sub Clauses 9 :
Concrete works for miscellaneous civil structure.
3.0 MATERIALS AND CONCRETE
Materials and Concrete this operation shall be listed as below :
a. Ordinary Portland Cement type 1 conform to AASHTO M85
b. Fine Aggregate conform to AASHTO M6
c. Coarse Aggregate conform to AASHTO M80
d. Water used mixing shell be tested by described in AASHTO T26
e. Admixture conform to ASTM C494,ASTM C979.
f. Reinforcement conform to BDS ISO 6953-2 or ASTM A615
g. Concrete to be used for this project is Grade 30, Grade 25, and Grade 15.
4.0 RESOURCE, EQUIPMENT AND FACILITIES
Equipment and tools for this operation shall be listed as below:

a. Inspection and Test Plan for Method Statement for Concrete and Materials as
detailed in Attachment 1 : Inspection and Test Plan .
b. Quality Control Checklist for Quality Control of Concrete Material as detailed in
Attachment 2 : Checklist Form
5.0 PROCEDURE
5.1 Concrete Order Process
According to the time frame, if the respective engineer checks the works, and ensures
that the reinforcing bars installation, formwork installation and cleanness have been
accomplished as per the approved construction technical drawings and specifications,
he shall issue the concrete order form, as shown in Form No. ITD-SINOHYDRO
JV/CP02/MS/ST005/01 to request ready-mixed concrete from the batching plant.

5.2 Incoming Inspection Process

a. When the ready-mixed concrete truck arrives on-site, the delivery concrete code
shall be verified in comparison with the concrete order form issued. The slump
shall be tested as per specified requirements as shown in Form No. ITD-
SINOHYDRO JV/CP02/MS/ST005/03 to concrete placing inspection and
laboratory test report.
b. Quality of Ready mixed Concrete shall be sampled and tested for the quality
control of fresh concrete and sampling specimens as shown on the Inspection
and Test Plan. The identification tags, such as location, gridline, type of
placement work and placement date shall be marked on all concrete cylinders, as
shown in Form No. ITD-SINOHYDRO JV/CP02/MS/ST005/02 to Identification
Tag.
Once the concrete cylinder are met 24 hours, they shall be delivered to concrete
curing tank. The information given in the tags shall be immediately transferred to
the concrete cylinders using permanent marking prior to curing.
The cylinder curing process shall be performed and controlled in accordance with
the associated documents due to the fact that all cylinders represent the concrete
placed in those areas.
c. Once the compressive strength test of cylinders reach the specified date, they
shall be delivered to the Central Laboratory for testing. Relevant concrete
cylinders shall be identification tag and the recorded in specimen testing record in
Form No.ITD-SINOHYDRO JV/CP02/MS/ST005/04 to Cylindrical compressive
strength test report.
d. Summary cylindrical compressive strength test report completed age 28 days
shall be recorded in Form No. ITD-SINOHYDRO JV/CP02/MS/ST005/05 to
compressive strength of concrete.
5.3 Test Result Record

a. If the respective engineer participates during the testing process, the read out
data shall be recorded by him in order to verify with the results to be shown in the
corresponding certificates.
b. Where the concrete cylinders fail to meet the requirements, the Procedure for
Control of Nonconforming Product shall be implemented.
c. Once completion, all information shown in the test certificates shall be verified to
ensure that all cylinder test results are in full compliance with the specified
requirements prior to the certificate documents being retained as required by
quality records.
Note: 1. Quality control for ready-mixed concrete is prescribed in the ITP attached 1.
5.4 Test Result of Materials

Quality control test of all materials is prescribed in the Inspection and Test Plan in as
attached 1.
6.0 SAFETY PROVISIONS

a. All workers entering the construction areas will be provided with safety induction
training.

b. All workers will use personal protective equipment during work process.
7.0 ENVIRONMENTAL PROVISIONS

a. The work areas will be carried out with sufficient environmental protection.
b. The debris arising from the concrete activity shall be regularly cleared and
removed out.
