Drill and countersink (4) four holes per roll as shown on page #4, The grinder mounting holes must be parallel (+ 1/16", t 1.5 mm) with the centerline of the calender roll, both vertically and horizontally In some cases, it may become necessary to mount the grinder 10-20 degrees below horizontal. if this eccurs, pivot the four mounting hole locations about the centre of the calender roll. Note that the grinder weighs 1,800 pounds. Before ped in to clear Lifting, have the four (4) centers the calender frame and remove the grinding wheel and spindie assembly and the spindle motor. Turn the four (4) centers out into the holes in the calender frame. Remove the Lifting chain. Remove the two (2) chain shackles from the front of the grinder. The grinding wheel will not clear these shackles. Tighten all Four (4) centers into the calender frame and tighten lecknuts. Cut off three (3) pieces of 1" standard pipe suitable lengths and mount under the grinder as auxiliary supports to reduce vibration. Level the grinder bed using the six (6) sets of leveling screws. See page #13. A level is mounted on the grinder bed. See pages #14 and $30. DO NOT BEND OR TWIST THE BED. Gonnect the electrical power to the Control Panel. Mount a magnetic base indicator on the carriage and run the carriage across the face of the roll. Adjust the grinder bed until it is in line with the roll face and lock it in place using the screws provided See page #13. Mount the centre spindle assembly. See page #17. For grinding the ends of the roll, it may be necessary to use the outboard spindle shown on page #16. Mount the spindle motor and vee belt drive. Traverse the grinding wheel so that it is located over the diamond dresser, Feed the dresser into the wheel using the handwheel. Traverse the grinding wheel back and forth over the dresser using a slo feed to accomplish the grade of dress required. (2) When adjusting the bed and aligning it with the roll face, do not have the roller chain drive tight. STEP Ili Attach the adapter plate to the front of the Zero-Max drive case with the three screws selected in Step I! above by inserting them in drive case holes 1, 4, and 6. (See Fig. 11) STEP I Select the package of screws which matches the Zero-Max Drive Model umber used. STEP it Attach the adapter plate to the front of the Zero-Max drive case with the four screws mentioned in Step I! above by inserting them in drive case holes 1, 4, 6, and 8 Seat the screws firmly but do not overtighten or you i a may bind the inner mechanism of the ative. (Fig. 11) | { STEP IV Line up the red dot on the gearhead input section with the flat on the Zero-Max output shaft. Do not remove grease from bore. Gently slip the ‘gearhead over the drive shaft twisting slightly until both slide together. When together, rotate the gearhead so it matches the drive and insert 6 410-32 screws through the gearhead and into the adapter plate, Tighten | the screws so they are evenly and equally seated. Turn the four (4) centers out into the holes in the calender frame. Remove the lifting chain. Remove the two (2) chain shackles from the front of the grinder. The grinding wheel will not clear these shackles. Tighten all four (4) centers into the calender frame and cighten locknuts. Cut off three (3) pieces of 1" standard pipe to suitable lengths and mount under the grinder as auxillary supports to reduce vibration. Level the grinder bed using the six (6) sets of leveling screws. See page #13. A level is mounted on the grinder bed. See pages $14 and #30. DO NOF BRNO OR TWIST THE BED.
