As the Dona Teodora Alonzo High School aims to Intensify protection of learners, personnel and
education investments from impact of natural and human induced hazards, it deals largely with the
Strengths characteristic that give an advantage over its challenges and limitations. Strengths
trace what a institution excels at and what separates it from others sort of a learners profile,
loyal students base, a robust record, unique technology, and so on.  Some of the strengths of
DTAHS Safety and Disaster Risk Reduction office are the following:.

1. Resilient Teachers- Most of faculty members are spirited and strong in terms of meeting and
exceeding institutional goal that brought them medals, trophies and other recognition from
division, regional, to the national level
2. Supportive Administrators- They understand the needs of stakeholders and maximizes their
effort to assist in achieving goals and objectives
3. Participative learners - Quickly respond to the calling for competitions both academic and extra-
curricular

7. Manageable school space- Students, teachers, and other employees meet and perform
activities almost on the same area with lesser complexity
8. Newly constructed Ipil and SHS building- eliminated some cause of accident that may harm
students and employees and brought some motivation to the community

DTAHS being a successful Safety and DRRM implementers, managed to keep its activities in
the accordance with its mandate, though there are some weaknesses that are likely to be a
negative aspect to the institution and these are as follows:

1. Limited budget allocation for SDRRM- Allocated on 5 % of the MOOE which found to be
insufficient specially for the school with a small number of enrollees
2. Decaying condition of facilities – Most of the walls, roof, ceilings of the main building and
Havana building are dilapidated, cracked, and beyond economic repair
3. No water supply in Ipil building – Turned over to the school by the contractor without any
supply which caused difficulty in maintaining the same
4. Lack of space for Activities/Seminar/Training – Very limited space for the conduct of training,
seminars, and other school related events
5. Lacking in tools, equipment and materials for safety implementation – SDRRM Coordinator,
Safety officer and school administrators cannot implement fully the safety and disaster risk
reduction policies due to wanting in necessary tools, materials, and equipment.
6. Inaccessible gates in case of emergency – An urgent need to clear and make the other gates
accessible to be used as emergency exit in case of fire, and other hazard
7. Expired and outdated safety appliances – There is a need to purchase and replace most of the
safety appliances installed in the conspicuous places of the school
8. Lack of ample dumpsite – school wastes, garbage and debris are located right in the very
entrance of the school that poses harm to learners, employees and visitors

These are the frenzy weaknesses that DTAHS possesses. The school needs to work on it to
enrich its efficiency among its stakeholders. While, the following are the Opportunities of Dona
Teodra Alonzo High School.

1. Supportive Barangay officials – Quickly responded to the need of schools in terms of peace and
maintaining safety
2. Strong partnership with NGOs- With Memorandum of agreement with Non government
organization who regularly extends supports for its facility improvement and learners welfare
3. Safety tools, equipment and materials are available in nearby stores- At any time during
reasonable time, tools, equipment and materials can be availed in a snap
4. Active and participative PTA- Well organized and readily available for any activities and project
of school
5. Safety Trainings, seminars or short courses offered from different accredited institutions-
Teachers and students can be sent to improve their knowledge, skills and habits in the
implementation of safety and DRRM

With this, the section of opportunities for the safety and DRRM of DTAHS comes to an end. The
last segment of  SWOT Analysis herein are the following:

1. Protruding tree branches from outside the campus – Intruders take advantage of it in jumping
over and rob rooms, offices and other place of school
2. Rising cost of safety tools, materials, and equipment – Budget allocated may not be sufficient to
acquire necessary tools, equipment and materials due high cost
3. Climate change- cause unpredictable situation of weather
4. Electrical supply jumpers- Blatantly climbing the school perimeter to illegal connection of
electrical supply from Meralco line
5. Presence of squatters in the vicinity- They post community fears for their life, liberty and
property
6. Illegal parking around the school perimeter- They humpers the rescue and disaster response
activity.
