Solar Energy

Background (3 minutes):
 Solar energy, which is power generated from sunlight, has a long history of human exploration,
tracing its origins back to the discovery of the photovoltaic effect by Alexandre-Edmond
Becquerel in the 1800s.
 Significant historical milestones include the development of the first practical solar cell by
scientists at Bell Labs in 1954, marking a pivotal moment in the advancement of solar panel
technology.
 In recent years, solar energy has gained widespread attention and popularity due to its
environmental benefits and its potential to provide sustainable solutions to our energy needs.

Objectives (3 minutes):
 The primary objective of our research is to conduct a comprehensive evaluation of the feasibility
and potential benefits of implementing solar energy solutions within the context of Bangladesh's
energy landscape.
 Our interest in solar energy is driven by its clean and renewable nature, which can help reduce
the negative impacts of fossil fuel usage on the environment, as well as its potential to provide
reliable energy access to remote and underserved areas.
 This poster serves as an educational tool and advocacy platform, aimed at informing and
engaging individuals and policymakers in considering solar energy as a viable energy source.

Significance (3 minutes):
 The significance of this study cannot be overstated, as it plays a crucial role in helping
Bangladesh meet its energy needs while simultaneously addressing environmental concerns,
such as climate change.
 Solar energy holds significance in its ability to enhance the resilience of the national energy grid,
reduce harmful greenhouse gas emissions, and promote energy independence.
 The widespread adoption of solar power has the potential to stimulate economic growth,
improve air quality, and enhance energy security, offering substantial benefits to the people of
Bangladesh.

Recent Study/Development (3 minutes):

 Recent research within the field of solar energy has yielded significant advancements,
particularly in improving the efficiency of solar panels.
 Some modern solar panel models have achieved conversion rates of over 20%, signifying
increased energy production and cost-effectiveness.
 Additionally, innovations in energy storage technologies, particularly advanced lithium-ion
batteries, have made it possible to efficiently capture and store surplus solar energy, ensuring a
consistent power supply even during periods of limited sunlight.
Contribution to the Society (Bangladesh) (3 minutes):
 The adoption of solar energy stands to empower marginalized and remote communities in
Bangladesh, providing them with a dependable and eco-friendly source of energy.
 By reducing electricity costs for households and businesses, widespread solar adoption can
stimulate economic growth and improve living standards across the country.
 Furthermore, the extensive integration of solar power can address long-standing power
shortages, lower energy expenditure, and significantly decrease carbon emissions, aligning with
Bangladesh's commitment to a sustainable future.

Future Scope (3 minutes):

 Our forthcoming research endeavors will delve into the optimization of solar panel placement,
carefully considering factors such as sunlight exposure and shading patterns to maximize energy
generation.
 We also plan to explore and propose policy recommendations aimed at incentivizing and
facilitating the adoption of solar energy, including measures like feed-in tariffs and tax incentives.
 Additionally, our future investigations will scrutinize the integration of solar power into the
national grid, focusing on grid stability, efficient demand management, and the implementation
of smart grid technologies.

Conclusion (3 minutes):
 In summary, solar energy represents a promising and transformative solution for addressing
Bangladesh's energy challenges.
 Its sustainability, environmental benefits, and economic viability position it as a critical
component of the nation's energy transition strategy.
