Manufacturing businesses

 is the creation or production of goods with the help of equipment, labor,


machines, tools, and chemical or biological processing or formulation. It is the
essence of the secondary sector of the economy.

 is any business that uses raw materials, parts, and components to assemble
finished goods.

Wholesaling businesses

 Wholesalers operate as middlemen between product manufacturers and retailers


or other businesses. They make a profit by buying products in bulk at a discount
and reselling them in smaller quantities at a higher price to individual retailers.
 the selling of merchandise to anyone other than a retail customer. The
merchandise may be sold to a retailer, a wholesaler, or to an enterprise that will
use it for business, rather than individual, purposes.

Retailing businesses

 the selling of merchandise and certain services to consumers. It ordinarily


involves the selling of individual units or small lots to large numbers of customers
by a business set up for that specific purpose.

Service businesses

 refers to activities that benefit a company without supplying tangible products.

 is a combination of the words "agriculture" and "business" and refers to any

Agribusiness involves all the steps required to send an agricultural good to
market, namely production, processing, and distribution.

and distribution. Production: This involves cultivating, harvesting, and raising
crops and animals for food and other products.

 Mining is the extraction of valuable geological materials from the Earth and other
astronomical objects.

Industry – is a classification that refers to groups of companies that are related


based on their primary business activities.

Market – is a place where buyers and sellers connect. It is a large place where
there are both sellers as well as buyers exchanging goods and services.

Participants in an Industry

 Rivals and competitors in a particular type of business.


 Suppliers of input, machinery and equipment, manpower, expertise and
merchandise.
 Consumer market segments being served by rivals.

Marketing – is about creating and accumulating customers. Marketing plans are


designed to capture market share and defeat competitors.

Product - is the tangible good or intangible service that the enterprise offers to its
customers in order to satisfy their needs and to produce their expected results.

General Types of Products that Marketed by Enterprise

Breakthrough Products –also called pioneers, are products that are technologically


advanced and creatively superior to existing products in the market. double the
performance at half the cost, convenient or easy to use.

Differentiated Products – refers to products that can remain competitive despite being
put against competing products that are very similar.

Copycat Product – a brand which copies, mimics or is made deliberately similar to


an established brand in the marketplace
With lower prices, easier access, promotional freebies but a greater cost than the
leading brands.

Niche Products – A good or service with features that appeal to a particular market
subgroup. A product targeting a specific section of a larger industry and market.

1. Number of customers residing or working in the area, and the number who frequently
pass through the area.

Promotion – is the explicit communication strategy adopted by an enterprise to elicit


the patronage, loyalty and support not only from its customers but also from its other
significant stakeholders.

People – are the ultimate strategy

Positioning – is how the business positioned in the hearts and minds of customers and
how do people think and talk about the company.

Purpose of Branding

c. to fill space in the customer’s mind that would prevent other products from
occupying the same space.

Packaging – prominently displayed the brand name, the main attributes of the product,
the company’s logo and its place of business. It is the bundle of products or services
that are put together to attract and delight customers.
