The Gig economy has impacted into our life and become a significant part that makes

tremendous contributions for people lazy life. In some instances, when people go back

and forth from home to work sites during the rush hour without having breakfast, the

Ubereat or food delivery service probably is second to none choice in the recent years.

When people enjoy the convenience, the food deliverers suffer the high pressure at the

limitation of time to express the food and the employ companies pay less money and
no offer the insurance anymore. However, the Gig economy actually bring huge

benefits and convenience to people but there are some serious problems should be

focus on and put it into concern lists.

The Gig economy is already prevalent and popular in the daily life because people are

busy to deal problems and high requirement at the work. Gig work offers the workers

a flexible workhours instead of regular work and traditional work patterns, through

the digital platform, the workers can offer services to the customers directly (Stanford,

2017). The internet business companies usually consist two types, one is trade trading

business, that is a platform, party A and B can negotiate and make deal mutually,

platform provide capital safe security agreement at the same time. (Standford,2017).

However, a variety of workers, especially young people, are gig economy participants

who come from low class also known as freelancers. For example, Ubereat, Amazon

employ many casual laborers to make up package or delivery food service to clients.

Uber prefer temporary workers than formal workers. Those internet giants treat

workers as individual contractors. Through this employment relationship, these

companies don’t sustain insurance and other payment compensation for individual

workers one other, and then they can improve their profits and get rid of responsibility

on the legislations (Standing,2011). There are a couple of factors causing this

circumstance. First of all, most young people do not leave good reputation at the

working career, they don’t strain on the fixed job and position, if they get new and

appropriate opportunities, they will jump to new companies immediately without any
hesitation hence they want to more flexible workhours. Secondly, the school loan,

mortgage and life expense extremely increase the burden for new and graduating

students, consequently, the Gig economy is the best choice to those people, and the

internet business enterprises welcome them to take part in because of lacking

experience in the working. Students are eager to payment more than insurance and

other life welfares. Third one, the economy depression, due to the epidemic, almost all

industries are suffering and anxious to deal with cost on products and human resource.

The freelancers become a good partner to the internet business companies because

they don’t need to pay extra cost like insurance, Superannuation even less tax.

Even though the workers stay in the weakness side, people should learn and pick up

the evidence to protect their right and profits. Firstly, as a worker or contractor the

necessary thing is that you better know what you have rights and profits, and know

where is red-line of the rights and the line in the sand. So that you can make detect

when your rights are violated by employers, and you be able to practice your

experience for next time sign up for a contract or look for a new job. If I were you, the

labor law also a better way to learn how to protect our rights and profits, we don’t

need to focus on deep and legislations, some real case study will help us a lot.

Secondly, the ability of reading contract. Labor contract, enterprise rules and

regulations and other written materials, a lot of workers do not read, or do not know

what it means. Labor partner is based on the labor contract to produce, the two sides

agreed content, especially the labor contract is very important. the labor contract and
rules and regulations show that the bonus should be distributed according to the

assessment results, but the workers firmly believe that the bonus should be

automatically distributed. Regardless of whether the reason is confirmed or not, the

main point has derived from the basic legal concept based on facts. Workers are at a

disadvantage when dealing with issue. Employers are managers who have the right to

make management decisions and the right to control data. Compared with employees,

they have stronger ability to collect evidence. But this is also relative, now everyone

has a smart phone, how to obtain evidence is a obvious answer.

Even though the Gig economy is a trend recent year, because of epidemic, everyone

are suffering from covid-19, some people have to choose partner for internet business

company to make money. However, taking evidence to defend rights and profits is an

ideal choice.
