Definition of Mumps:It’s an infection caused by a virus that’s easily spread through saliva
and mucus.It usually happens in kids who haven’t immunized.

Mode of Transmission:

1)Mumps Virus Respiratory tract transmitted to a person


2)Saliva Respiratory droplet to person infected

3)Spread the virus

Causes:
1)Paramyxovirus found in the saliva

2)virus present in saliva(6 days)


3)Parotid gland swelling
4)Incubation period 14-25 days:
COMPLICATION:
1)MENINGITIS
2)ORCHITIS

3)Testicular swelling
4)Tenderness

5)Scrotal erythema
6)LOWER ABDOMINAL PAIN:

7)NAUSEA
8)VOMITING
9)FEVER

10)PAST PUBERTAL MALES


SIGNS & SYMPTOMS
1)MYALGIA

2)ANOREXIA
3)HEADACHE

4) LOW GRADE FEVER


5) PAROTID GLAND TENDERNESS

6)SWELLING
TREATMENT

1)drink plenty of fluids

2)GARGLE WARM SALT WATER


3)EASY TO CHEW FOODS

5)AVOID ACIDIC FOODS


6) ICE POP TO SORE THROAT

7)Ice or heat pack on swollen glands


8) Take non aspirin medication

9)Take Acetaminophen
10)IBUPROFEN
