WHAT IS LIBRARY CATALOGUE?
Library catalogue is a listing of all items within a library in pre-computer
times, library books were indexed in cards catalogue which were
cabinet of drawers of index cards, author cards, title cards and subject
cards

Online public access catalogue
1. Book catalogue; is a catalogue which contains list of books, maps,
sound recordings or materials in other mediums that represent a
collection arranged alphabetically by authors, titles, number or
subjects. The main purpose is to record, describe, and index the
holding of a collection.
2. The card catalogue; is a set of card in a library that have
information about books, journals etc., written on them are
arranged in alphabetical orders.
3. The sheaf catalogue; is a practical handbook on the compilation of
manuscript catalogues for public and private library
4. The computer library catalogue; is the digital form of catalogue
kept in standard format. With the advancement of technology,
libraries are also trying to automate all of their activities through
the computer. As it saves time of the user, energy, effort and they
can find a systematic record.
5. COM catalogue; computer output microform are record of
information in alphabetical order which is transferred into image
and these images will further be transferred into microform.
6. Online public access catalogue (OPAC); is an online bibliography of
a library collection that is unavailable to the public. OPACs
developed as standalone online catalogue often from VT100
terminal to a mainframe library catalogue.
