The teacher will start the class by asking the students about the previous lesson ( modal verbs of
obligation.) He will be asking questions that will help the students recall the past lesson. Next, a list of

“The Modal School “

The teacher will divide the students into groups of 3. Instructions about choosing a leader and a
secretary per group follows next. He will then ask the students to remember about their likes and
dislikes in a school. Next, he will introduce the activity by telling the students, that a school’s
management is being taken over by them. Their task is to decide on what rules to have in this

particular school that will be followed both by the teachers and the students. Each member of the

group is encouraged to give his/her own rule on the list. They can list as much rules as they can. A
representative will have to share the rules created by the students to the rest of the class. The
teacher will remind the students about the modals used in the sentences. After the last group’s
presentation, the students will have a representative explain the rules they created to the rest of the
class. He will then ask the students about the topic. Once the students give the right guess, the
teacher will proceed
in presenting the Learning Objectives.

4.3 Analysis
The teacher will use a PPT presentation to aid in presenting the topic to class. He will open the lesson

by explaining what a modal auxiliary verb is and it’s from. He will only focus on the modal verb of

The goal of the teacher in this lesson, is to impart to the students the necessary bits of information
pertaining to the modal verbs of prohibition. This is a continuation of the previous topic discussed,
which was all about the modal verbs of obligation. The teacher will only focus on the different modal

will be given on each and every point highlighted in the discussion, to ensure understanding and
retention of the students. Necessary applications as well as assessments will be provided to derive
at a conclusion that the learning objectives are met and are executed properly during the discussion.

only difference this time, is that the products that they will be creating, are different from one another.
The three groups will be assigned to create the following: (a) a poster about the rules, (b) a poem
using about modals or in using modals, and (c) a drawing that will explain the importance of following
rules and regulations.

The students will be provided with a piece of cartolina/ group and coloring materials. One
representative or representatives will have to explain their creations in front of the class.

4.7 Assignment The teacher will ask the students to research about direct and indirect speech. The assignment will

The teacher will do a recap on the topic. Before he close the discussion, he will be sharing a quote
from Plato which says “good people do not need laws to tell them to act responsibly, while bad
people will find a way around the laws”. He will ask a couple of volunteers to share their views about
