diplomacy and then it will go on to define tact and state what it means to be a tactful ambassador

and last and not the least it will give a talk about A.I (artificial intelligence) and it will also

explain how AI can play a vital part in diplomacy and the roles of ambassadors. The paper will

also give a conclusion.

Definition of Diplomacy

Diplomacy is both “ a category of practice and a category of analysis”(Pouliot & Cornut

2015: 299), meaning that contemporary definantions pf diplomacy are broad and differentiated

along epistemological and methodological boundaries. (Siniver, 2020).

Accordingly, the British historian and diplomat Sir Harold Nicolson notes that the “word

‘diplomacy’ is carelessly taken to denote several quite different things” leading to “confusion of

thought” and substantial misunderstandings (1988: 3), while De Magalhaes argues that the

definitions are “imprecise, in-complete and clearly erroneous,” resulting in “deplorable

conceptual confusion” (1988: 49). Similarly, Marsh.

Accordingly, the British historian and diplomat Sir Harold Nicholson notes that the

“word ‘diplomacy’ is carelessly taken to denote several quite different things” leading to

“confusion of thought” and substantial misunderstanding (1999: 8) points out that the word is

often misinterpreted since it simultaneously represents “content, conduct, character, method,

manner and art,” and Sharp (2003: 857) concludes that it is “a notoriously tricky term … that

cannot be settled decisively.” This conceptual confusion has been addressed through various

typologies in the literature. DeMagalhaes (1998) sees diplomacy as commonly denied through

four prisms:

foreign policy, an instrument of foreign policy, international negotiations, and the activity

of diplomats. Sharp (2003) defines diplomacy as a synonym for statecraft, foreign policy, and

international relations, as well as the making of foreign policy by practitioners. Pigman (2013)

offers a basic distinction between a positivist state-focused approach and a post-positivist

approach which focuses more on the core functions of diplomacy, while Murray (2008) presents

a more nuanced typology of three schools of diplomatic thought: traditional state-based

approaches; nascent approaches which focus on the role of new, non-state actors; and innovative

approaches which highlight the coexistence and even cooperation between traditional and ‘new’

forms of diplomacy. Berridge’s (2002: 1) definition of diplomacy embodies Pigman’s positivist

approach and Murray’s traditional school of thought, whereby the main purpose of diplomacy “is

to enable states to secure the objectives of their foreign policies.” This approach has often been

criticized for being too static. (Siniver, 2020).

Humorist and what it means in Diplomacy

A person who is skilled in the use of humor as in writing, talking, or acting and in other

words a person with an active sense of humor (Humorist Definition & Meaning, n.d.).

What humor means in diplomacy but this will relate to public diplomacy. Public

diplomacy is predicated on the communication of culture, values and ideas: humor represents a

more oblique manner of communicating ideas, and therefore can be a powerful medium to

conduct public diplomacy. The beauty of using humor as a means to transmit ideas is that the

jovial nature of comedy can indirectly communicate weightier subjects in a lighthearted manner

that can diffuse weighty realities.(Stand-Up Diplomacy: Humor as Public Diplomacy | USC

Humor can undoubtedly help diplomacy. It can encourage people to accept your

arguments. The comedian John Cleese once said “if i can get you to laugh with me: you like me

better, which makes you more open to my ideas and if i can persuade you to laugh at that

particular point i make, by laughing at it you acknowledge the truth.” Or as George Bernard

Shaw put it: “ if you are going to tell people the truth, you better make them laugh; otherwise ,

they will kill you.” (HUMOR AND DIPLOMACY, 2018).

Doggie And what it means in Diplomacy

The art of diplomacy is saying “Nice Doggie “ Until you can find a rock. Diplomacy is a

precious skill set that must be developed. It's a debatable discussion that this is an innate talent. It

takes work and practice. Everyone wants to be right. Everyone wants to be heard. People use it to

politic within organizations, However, there’s never one person that is the “the king of the

mountain .” The goal should be understanding each other so that multiple people could

potentially share the mountain peak. (The Art of Diplomacy Is Saying "Nice Doggie" Until You

Can Find a Rock., 2016).

Tact and what it means to be a Tactful Ambassador

Tact is the art of making a point without making an enemy.- Isaac Newton. Tact and

diplomacy are methods used to aid effective communication, especially during negotiations and

when attempting to be persuasive or assertive. Using tact and diplomacy can lead to improved

relationships with other people and are a way to build and develop mutual respect, which in turn

can lead to more successful outcomes and less difficulty or stress. (The Art of Tact and

Tact: "the delicate perception of saying or doing the right thing; having a quick sense of

what fits the given situation; thus avoiding offense." Most of us are familiar with special

individuals that most countries utilize in their relations with other nations, the diplomat.

Typically, diplomats are seasoned individuals with a great deal of training in the fine art

of smoothing over misunderstandings or misconceptions by one country or another. They are

prized for their well-honed diplomatic skills as well as for having a firm grasp of how to deal

tactfully with delicate issues that could start a war or bring about peace, depending on their skill.

One person whose job requires the use of these skills is an ambassador. This person is

typically the chief representative of a nation in a foreign land. In many ways, he must embody

these traits since he is the first-line contact of his home country or leader. His words and actions

can affect the ongoing relationship between the two states. An ambassador is "a messenger or a

servant with a specific mission or task," who should have the above-mentioned traits. From this

concept, along with scriptural references (II Corinthians 5:20; Ephesians 6:20), Herbert

Armstrong named Ambassador College, an institution for educating people in the valuable

virtues necessary for living a biblical way of life as "strangers and pilgrims" in a foreign land.

Whether or not we realize it, each of us has had this education, be it through personally attending

the college, hearing sermons at church given by its ministerial graduates, reading the

publications, or watching the programs the church and college produced. (“CONTROL

Artificial Intelligence and the role it plays in Diplomacy and with Ambassadors

Artificial Intelligence or sometimes called machine intelligence, is intelligence

demonstrated by machines, in contrast to the natural intelligence displayed by humans and other

animals. Some of the activities that it is designed to do is speech recognition, learning, planning

and problem solving, Since Robotics is the field concerned with the connection of perception to

action, artificial intelligence must have a central role in Robotics if the connection is to be

intelligent, Artificial intelligence addresses the crucial questions of : what knowledge is required

in any aspect of thinking : how should that knowledge be represented : and how should that

knowledge be used.Robotics challenges Artificial Intelligence by forcing it deal with real objects

in the real world (Saleh, 2019).

AI is a branch of computer science devoted to the study of computer designed to imitate

the thinking and reasoning power of the human mind

Artificial intelligence (AI), sometimes called machine intelligence, is intelligence

demonstrated by machines, in contrast to the natural intelligence displayed by humans and other

animals, such as "learning" and "problem solving. . In computer science AI research is defined

as the study of "intelligent agents": any device that perceives its environment and takes actions

that maximize its chance of successfully achieving its goals (BAUM, n.d.).

Artificial Intelligence(AI) has the potential to play an important role in diplomacy by

improving efficiency, decision-making, and communications between countries. AI has been

used in diplomacy in various ways, from analyzing vast amounts of data to automating

administrative tasks.
