ELI10104 INTERNSHIP: TEACHING TRAINING

ELI20204 PRACTICUM 1 (NURSERY)

WEEK NO. 1 DAY Tuesday ENTRY NO.

DATE 6 June 2023 TIME 7am – 5pm

A. HOW TODAY HAD BEEN:

As an intern, my first day was productive. It was simple for me to get along
with the Taska Koolkidz (Seri Intan) teachers because they all welcomed me
with open arms. Since I was a newcomer to the nursery, I introduced myself to
the workers. Teacher Mira will be in charge of me. They then provided me with
a breakdown of the management of the centre and the children.

B. ACTIVITY/TASK 1:

I was assigned the responsibility of taking charge when the kids arrived as my
first task. As there are numerous illnesses and viruses spreading among
children, I am required to pick up the children and check on their general
health, including their head, leg, hand, mouth and temperature.

C. ACTIVITY/TASK 2:

Since Parent's Teachers' Day was quickly approaching, the teachers were very
busy finishing up the students' progress books. Children were being evaluated
for their first term. Therefore, they give the kids leggos to play with in order to

SESS PRACTICUM COMMITTEE

MANAGEMENT AND SCIENCE UNIVERSITY

SCHOOL OF EDUCATION AND SOCIAL SCIENCES

keep them under control. I have a responsibility to watch out for and take care
of them.

D. ACTIVITY/TASK 3:

Once the toddlers are awake at three thirty in the afternoon, they are about to
prepare for the bath. I had to bathe each of the 40 toddlers in the playgroup.
Children will approach the teacher to remove their clothing and get a towel
before bathing. Some kids can open their clothing and place it in their bags on
their own.

E. LESSON OF THE DAY:

Particularly, I gain knowledge on how to bathe and supervise 40 children. I

have, however, gained knowledge about how their playgroup schedule
operates. I've been watching how they do their daily tasks so that when it's my
turn, it will be a little bit easier for me to complete them.

F. ACHIEVEMENT OF THE DAY:

Successfully the achievement of today is I able to communicate well with the

children in the centre. I had asked them some questions and interact well with
them. They also talked a lot with me. Besides, I able to handle the class
without other teacher’s helping. I able to control the children as well as I can.
Also, I able to solve the problems and accidents immediately.

G. FUTURE STRATEGIES:

From the teachers at that center, I had gained a lot of information today. I
believe I can learn everything and use it to my future. In addition, I believe I
SESS PRACTICUM COMMITTEE
MANAGEMENT AND SCIENCE UNIVERSITY

SCHOOL OF EDUCATION AND SOCIAL SCIENCES

could witness and absorb the creativity of the teachers since they produce
handicrafts and instructional materials with great ingenuity. I believe I may
gain knowledge from them and develop my creativity.

WEEK NO. 1 DAY Wednesday ENTRY NO.

DATE 7 June 2023 TIME 7am – 5pm

A. HOW TODAY HAD BEEN:

I awaited the arrival of the teachers so they could open the door. As a newbie,
I felt a little lonely. In addition, I feel wonderful and gave my all at work.

B. ACTIVITY/TASK 1:

I'm indicated to look after the young children when I get there. Then, once the
toddler arrives, I must ignore their pleading. I then have to let them sit down
so they can listen to the morning rhymes.

C. ACTIVITY/TASK 2:

For today I am about to label toddlers' items accordingly following their

names. For the playgroup toddlers where aged two to four, they will need 2
Pampers, one for the afternoon before they sleep and another for evening
after the bath. However, some four-year-old toddler does not use Pampers at
all as they have already been trained to use the washroom when needed.

SESS PRACTICUM COMMITTEE

MANAGEMENT AND SCIENCE UNIVERSITY

SCHOOL OF EDUCATION AND SOCIAL SCIENCES

D. ACTIVITY/TASK 3:

At around 12 pm in the afternoon, we have to arrange the beds for the

children to sleep. Once they lay down, their milk will be given to each of them
to drink.

E. LESSON OF THE DAY:

Learn how to label on their personal items. The differentiation between

toddlers who use Pampers and those who are already trained for the
washroom emphasizes the increasing levels of responsibility and independence
as children grow. This concept aligns with the gradual development of self-care
skills.

F. ACHIEVEMENT OF THE DAY:

Successfully, I learned how to give milk to the children and the proper way to
make them sleep.

DATE 27 June 2023 TIME 7am – 5pm

A. HOW TODAY HAD BEEN:

Upon my arrival at the center, I greeted the teachers and settled my

belongings in the classroom. I assisted the teachers in collecting the children as
they were dropped off by their parents. During breakfast, I facilitated
handwashing for the children and helped distribute their meals. Given that
tomorrow marked the last day before the Chinese New Year, the principal
assigned us an art activity to conduct. I aided in drawing lines for lanterns and

SESS PRACTICUM COMMITTEE

MANAGEMENT AND SCIENCE UNIVERSITY

SCHOOL OF EDUCATION AND SOCIAL SCIENCES

prepared colors for the children to paint the lanterns using their fingers.
Additionally, I guided the children in drawing rabbits. Prior to lunchtime, I
assisted in changing the children's clothes and diapers. During lunch, I
supported the teachers in food preparation and feeding those who required
assistance. After lunch, I participated in cleaning the eating area. Throughout
the day, I took care of the children during naptime, distributed snacks, changed
diapers, and assisted the teacher in managing the children.

B. ACTIVITY/TASK 1:

While assisting with the children's arrival, I encountered a situation where one
child refused to leave his mother's car and expressed reluctance to come to
the center. As his mother urged him to come out, he began crying and resisted.
To address this, I approached him, offered comfort, and gently convinced him
to join us. Through conversation and reassurance, I diverted his attention from
his concerns.

C. ACTIVITY/TASK 2:

Prior to lunchtime, I prompted the children to wash their hands. However, one
child started crying unexpectedly. I quickly attended to him, inquiring about
the reason for his distress. He explained that his friend had bitten his back
accidentally. I spoke to the child responsible for the incident, confirming that it
was accidental. I comforted the distressed child, reassuring him that his friend
had not intended harm.

D. ACTIVITY/TASK 3:

During naptime, I noticed one child crying. Upon approaching him, I realized he
was still asleep and potentially experiencing a nightmare. To provide comfort, I
reassured him and encouraged him to continue sleeping peacefully.

E. LESSON OF THE DAY:

SESS PRACTICUM COMMITTEE

MANAGEMENT AND SCIENCE UNIVERSITY

SCHOOL OF EDUCATION AND SOCIAL SCIENCES

The lesson originally planned for tomorrow was moved to today due to the
upcoming Chinese New Year break. I collaborated with the teacher to prepare
materials and outline lantern patterns on paper. Guiding the children, I
facilitated their painting of lanterns using their fingers and helped them draw
rabbits. I also assisted in decorating the paper.

F. ACHIEVEMENT OF THE DAY:

Today's accomplishment lies in my collaboration with the teachers to conduct

an art lesson for the children. I aided in preparing materials, instructed the
children in painting lanterns, drew a rabbit, and contributed to paper
decoration. Through this teamwork, I gained insights into effective
collaboration with colleagues.

G. FUTURE STRATEGIES:
Notably, during breakfast and snack times, I observed a child in the little class displaying picky eating
habits, specifically a refusal to eat bread. To address this, I intend to devise strategies that encourage
the child to overcome their picky eating tendencies. My aim is to find creative ways to make
mealtime enjoyable and appealing for this child, fostering a positive eating experience.

WEEK NO. 4 DAY Wednesday ENTRY NO.

DATE 28 June 2023 TIME 7am – 5pm

A. HOW TODAY HAD BEEN:

Upon my arrival at the center, I extended greetings to both the principal and
teachers. Following this, I arranged my belongings in the classroom and joined
the teachers in looking after the children. As I engaged with the children who
had arrived, I also took the opportunity to prepare teaching materials for the
upcoming week. Notably, one of the teachers was absent today, so I stepped in
to assist in taking care of the middle class. During this time, I conducted a
lesson on Mandarin Language, focusing on teaching the children the terms
"Dad" and "Mom." Consequently, my original lesson plan had to be postponed.

Amidst the morning routine, I participated in facilitating handwashing and

meal distribution. Subsequently, I aided in changing the children's clothes and
diapers. During the morning session, I helped teach the stroke order in
Mandarin Language. As lunchtime arrived, I contributed to the preparation of
food and assisted in feeding children who required support. After the meal, I
took part in washing the used bowls. As naptime commenced, I continued my

role in caring for the children. Once they woke up, I assisted in snack
distribution and diaper changes. Lastly, I participated in taking care of the
children before their departure

B. ACTIVITY/TASK 1:

During breakfast, I assisted in distributing food to the children. While observing

them eating, I noticed a child simultaneously playing with friends while eating
bread. I intervened immediately to stop the play and urged the child to finish
the bread promptly.

C. ACTIVITY/TASK 2:

Before lunchtime, I facilitated the changing of the children's diapers. During

this process, I encountered a child with a leaking diaper. I promptly helped the
child remove the diaper and used a towel to clean them thoroughly.
Subsequently, I assisted in putting on a clean diaper.

D. ACTIVITY/TASK 3:

After naptime, I aided the teachers in tidying the children's bedding, including
pillows and blankets. As I exited the classroom, I noticed a diaper on the floor. I
inquired about its owner and promptly requested the child responsible to pick
it up and dispose of it in the trash.

E. LESSON OF THE DAY:

Given the absence of the teacher responsible for the middle class, I assisted in
that role. I conducted a Mandarin Language lesson, teaching the children how

instance, I taught the children how to write "Dad" and "Mom" in Mandarin
Language, using interactive tools like marker pens and whiteboards. This
approach added an element of enjoyment to their learning experience.

G. FUTURE STRATEGIES:

During breakfast, I participated in distributing food to the children. Among the

children, I noticed a boy who hesitated to eat his bread and appeared
uncertain. Approaching him, I encouraged him to eat, but he still seemed
reluctant. In an effort to help, I divided his bread into smaller portions, which
eventually encouraged him to eat.

C. ACTIVITY/TASK 2:

Lunchtime saw all the children gathered at the dining area, awaiting the
distribution of food by the teacher. As the children began eating, I assisted in
feeding them. During this time, I noticed that one boy's chin was becoming red
and developing red spots. I promptly informed the principal and took the child
to the restroom. Using water, I gently wiped his chin, which helped the redness
and spots fade.

D. ACTIVITY/TASK 3:

Similarly, during lunchtime, all the children gathered to receive their food. As
they started eating, one girl struggled to finish her meal. It appeared she was
placing the food in her mouth without chewing.

addressed the situation by approaching him and inquiring about the reason for
his shouting. Despite my request for him to stop, he persisted in shouting.

D. ACTIVITY/TASK 3:

After nap time, I assisted in changing the children's diapers. At this point, a boy
approached me and expressed a desire to wear a diaper as well. I explained to
him that he had outgrown the need for diapers.

E. LESSON OF THE DAY:

Today, I regrettably could not proceed with the planned lesson due to the late
arrival of children in the little class. By the time they arrived, preparations for
breakfast were already underway, making it impractical to conduct the

A. HOW TODAY HAD BEEN:

Upon my arrival at the center, I greeted the teachers and arranged my

belongings in the classroom. I assisted in receiving the children as their parents
dropped them off. Given that it is still Chinese New Year, only a few children
attended the center today. Due to the low number of children, the principal
made the decision to combine the little, small, and middle classes into a single
classroom. Consequently, teaching lessons was not feasible. Instead,
educational videos were chosen as an alternative. I participated in facilitating
the breakfast routine, including helping the children wash their hands and
distributing their meals. Additionally, I assisted the children with changing
clothes and diapers. Regrettably, I was unable to carry out the planned lesson
due to the limited number of attending children. Before lunchtime, the
teachers provided building blocks and toys for the children to engage with.

B. ACTIVITY/TASK 1:

During playtime with the provided toys, I observed one child throwing a toy on
the floor. I approached the child and kindly requested that he pick up the toy,
explaining the importance of treating toys carefully.

C. ACTIVITY/TASK 2:

At lunchtime, I supported the teachers by distributing meals and assisting

children who needed help eating. While feeding one child, he accidentally fell
from his chair due to improper seating. Reacting swiftly, I reached out to help
him and reminded him to sit properly on the chair.

D. ACTIVITY/TASK 3:

Considering the reduced number of children attending due to the ongoing

Chinese New Year celebrations, I assisted the teachers in preparing beds,
pillows, and blankets for the nap time. Due to the small attendance, the
number of beds was adequate for a single classroom.

E. LESSON OF THE DAY:

Given the limited number of children in attendance due to the ongoing Chinese
New Year celebrations, the principal opted to combine multiple classes into a
single classroom. As a result, my planned lesson for the day had to be
postponed due to the reduced number of children.

F. ACHIEVEMENT OF THE DAY:

Today's accomplishment lies in my extensive communication with the

teachers. This interaction allowed me to gain insights into their experiences,
contributing to my personal and professional growth. Engaging in such
conversations enabled me to enhance my skills for future endeavors.

A. HOW TODAY HAD BEEN:

Upon my arrival at the center, I greeted the teachers and organized my

belongings in the classroom. I assisted the teachers in welcoming the children
as their parents dropped them off. Given that today marked the final day
before the Chinese New Year, the center held a special program. Parents
provided biscuits for the occasion, which were brought to the center by the
children. At 9 am, the program commenced, and Yee Sang was prepared and
placed on the table by the teachers. The "Lau Sheng" tradition was observed as
all the teachers participated in the Yee Sang meal. Throughout the day, I
assisted with various tasks such as handwashing during breakfast and
distributing Chinese New Year biscuits. I also aided in helping the children
change clothes and diapers, as well as guiding them to the bulletin board for a
photo-taking activity.

B. ACTIVITY/TASK 1:

After breakfast, the children settled in their classroom, sitting in their chairs. I
noticed water pooled on one of the tables. Quickly addressing the situation, I
inquired about the water source, to which the children explained that a child
had accidentally spilled water from his water bottle while playing. I asked the
child responsible to clean up the spill.

C. ACTIVITY/TASK 2:

Before lunchtime, the children gathered in their classroom, awaiting the

preparation of their meal by the teachers. One child approached me, reporting
that his friend had hit him. Responding promptly, I approached the child
involved in the incident and asked for an explanation. He revealed that he had
hit his friend because he didn't like him. I counseled him, urging him to
apologize to his friend.

D. ACTIVITY/TASK 3:

During naptime, a child started crying. Upon reaching him, I realized he was
still asleep and likely having a nightmare. I provided comfort to help him return
to a peaceful sleep.

E. LESSON OF THE DAY:

Given that today was the final day before the Chinese New Year break, the
center organized a special program. I assisted the teacher by guiding the
children to line up at the bulletin board for a photo session. As a result of the
program, I was unable to execute the lesson I had initially planned for the day.

F. ACHIEVEMENT OF THE DAY:

Today's accomplishment lies in my active involvement in assisting the teachers

and principal during the Chinese New Year program. My contributions helped
the program run smoothly without any mishaps.

G. FUTURE STRATEGIES:

Through today's experience, I gained insight into planning and executing a

Chinese New Year program. I hope to retain the program's structure and apply
it in my future endeavors. These newfound skills will undoubtedly contribute
to my growth and success in my upcoming professional ventures.

A. HOW TODAY HAD BEEN:

Upon my arrival at the center, I greeted the teachers and proceeded to

organize my belongings in the classroom. I assisted the teachers in collecting
the children from their parents during the morning drop-off. As today marked
the last day before the Chinese New Year, the center had arranged a special
program. Parents had provided biscuits for the occasion. The New Year
program began at 9 am, with teachers participating in the "Lao Sheng"

tradition by enjoying Yusheng, a festive dish. Throughout the day, I assisted the
teacher in guiding the children, from handwashing during breakfast to
distributing Chinese New Year biscuits.

B. ACTIVITY/TASK 1:

While helping with the children's drop-off, I encountered a child who hesitated
to leave his mother's car and attend the center. Despite his mother's efforts,
he began to cry and express his reluctance to come in. Swiftly, I approached
the child, offering comfort through a hug, and redirected his attention through
conversation.

C. ACTIVITY/TASK 2:

Before lunchtime, I instructed the children to wash their hands. Suddenly, one
child began to cry. Approaching him, I inquired about the reason for his
distress. He revealed that a friend had bitten his back accidentally. Upon
questioning the other child, it became evident that the bite was unintentional.
I consoled the upset child, reassuring him that it was an accident.\

D. ACTIVITY/TASK 3:

During naptime, a child started crying. Upon reaching him, I realized he was
still asleep and likely having a nightmare. I provided comfort to help him return
to a peaceful sleep.

E. LESSON OF THE DAY:

As tomorrow is the last day before the Chinese New Year break, I adjusted the
lesson planned for tomorrow to today. I assisted the teacher in preparing
SESS PRACTICUM COMMITTEE
MANAGEMENT AND SCIENCE UNIVERSITY

materials and drawing lantern outlines on paper. I guided the children in

finger-painting the lanterns and helped them draw a rabbit, incorporating
decorations.

F. ACHIEVEMENT OF THE DAY:

Today's accomplishment lies in successfully collaborating with fellow teachers

to conduct an art lesson for the children. I played a role in preparing materials
and teaching the children how to finger-paint lanterns. Additionally, I assisted
in drawing a rabbit and embellishing the paper. This experience has taught me
valuable lessons in teamwork with other teachers.

G. FUTURE STRATEGIES:

Observing that a child in the little class has a tendency to be a picky eater
during breakfast and snack times, I plan to address this habit. The child dislikes
eating bread and consistently refuses it. To overcome this challenge, I aim to
devise strategies that encourage the child to expand their eating preferences
and overcome picky eating tendencies.

B. ACTIVITY/TASK 1:

While aiding the teacher in collecting the children, I encountered a situation

where one child remained inside his mother's car and was reluctant to exit.
Despite his mother's urging, he began to cry and expressed his unwillingness to
come to the center. Swiftly, I approached him, embraced him, and gently
encouraged him to step out of the car. I provided comfort and engaged in
conversation to redirect his focus.

C. ACTIVITY/TASK 2:

After breakfast, all the children remained in their respective classrooms,

awaiting the teacher's arrival. Unexpectedly, a child approached me and
communicated that he needed to use the restroom. I instructed him to go to
the toilet and attend to his needs. Once he had finished, he requested my
assistance in cleaning himself. Without delay, I approached him and provided
the necessary help to wash up.

D. ACTIVITY/TASK 3:

Following the nap period, the children woke up, and I assisted the teachers in
tidying up by storing their pillows, blankets, and beds. Unexpectedly, I noticed
that a child's blanket was damp, and their pants were also wet. I requested the
child to go to the restroom and wait for me. I took care of the damp blanket by
placing it in a plastic bag and handed it to the child to take home. I proceeded
to clean the bed and moved it outside the center. Afterward, I attended to the
child, helping them clean up.

Today, I encountered a situation where I couldn't proceed with the planned

lesson. This occurred because none of the children from the little class were
present at the center. Nonetheless, I assisted in looking after the full-day
children. During this time, I engaged them in a Mathematics activity and
provided them with worksheets to complete.

F. ACHIEVEMENT OF THE DAY:

Today's accomplishment lies in my proactive support for the teachers, readily

offering assistance whenever and wherever it was needed. Whenever the
teachers indicated a need for help, I promptly stepped in to help them
complete their tasks. Through these opportunities, I not only contributed
effectively but also enhanced my skills in both teaching and caregiving.

G. FUTURE STRATEGIES:

Throughout the process of assisting the teachers, I gained valuable teaching

and caregiving skills that pertain to working with children. My intention is to
apply these acquired skills in both my present interactions with the children
and in my future endeavors. I am hopeful that incorporating these skills will

A. HOW TODAY HAD BEEN:

Upon my arrival at the center, I exchanged greetings with both the principal
and the teachers. After organizing my belongings in the classroom, I assisted
the teachers in receiving children as their parents dropped them off. The
principal informed me that the teacher responsible for the big class was
absent. Consequently, I was asked to help supervise the children from 8:30 am
to 9:30 am. During this relief period, I conducted a lesson in Malay Language,
teaching them how to read "Suku Kata."

During breakfast, I guided the children in washing their hands and distributed
their meals. Once they finished eating, I assisted them in changing their
clothes. Due to an emergency involving the teacher for the small class, I was
requested to take over her duties. This resulted in me combining the small and
little classes in one room. We engaged in singing songs and I provided the
children with paper plates for coloring.

During lunchtime, I supported the teachers by feeding the children who

required assistance. After lunch, I aided in cleaning the area where the children
had their meals. Following that, I took care of the children during their nap
time. Upon waking up, I distributed snacks and assisted with changing their
diapers.

Before the children left for the day, I assisted the teacher in managing the class
and looked after the children until 5:00 pm, as the teacher responsible for the
extended hours was absent.

B. ACTIVITY/TASK 1:

Once all the children had arrived at the center, they entered their respective
classrooms and awaited the teachers. While they were waiting, one child
began playing with his water bottle on the table. Upon noticing this, I

SESS PRACTICUM COMMITTEE

MANAGEMENT AND SCIENCE UNIVERSITY

SCHOOL OF EDUCATION AND SOCIAL SCIENCES

intervened and requested him to cease playing with the water bottle. I
instructed him to place the water bottle back in its proper place.

C. ACTIVITY/TASK 2:

Following breakfast, the teacher responsible for the small class had urgent
matters to attend to, and I stepped in to care for the children in that class. I
provided the children with paper plates for coloring. While the children were
engaged in coloring, one child opted not to color and instead began playing
with the crayons. Observing this, I intervened and encouraged the child to
begin coloring. Luckily, the child complied with my request and proceeded to
color the paper plate.

D. ACTIVITY/TASK 3:

Following the nap period, I merged the small class with the big class due to the
absence of the teacher in charge of the big class. I instructed the children to
take chairs and sit down. Some of the children took the opportunity to utilize
recycled paper and draw on it. After a short while, I noticed that the paper was
scattered on the floor. I directed the children to pick up the paper and store it
in the bookcase.

E. LESSON OF THE DAY:

Today, I faced the inability to carry out the lesson I had prepared. This was due
to the absence of one teacher, which led the principal to request my assistance
in managing the classroom. In the period designated for relief, I focused on
teaching the children Malay Language and guided them in reading "Suku Kata."

F. ACHIEVEMENT OF THE DAY:

Today's accomplishment involves successfully mastering the routines required

to fulfill the role of a caregiver or teacher at the center. Additionally, I have
gained the competence to effectively manage a classroom even when a
teacher is absent, knowing exactly how to handle the situation. This experience
has contributed to my growth and improvement in the skills necessary for the
roles of caregiver and teacher.

G. FUTURE STRATEGIES:

Within the large class, a small group of students are not behaving as desired
under the teachers' supervision. They tend to engage in playful activities
around the classroom and occasionally even get into arguments. Despite my
attempts to intervene and stop this behavior, they did not heed my
instructions. Consequently, I am motivated to develop strategies to establish
stricter discipline and better control over the children to ensure they follow
instructions.

A. HOW TODAY HAD BEEN:

Upon my arrival at the center, I exchanged greetings with both the principal
and the teachers. As the small class was hosting Parents' Day, I provided relief
for the teacher. Once all the children had arrived, I proceeded to conduct
lessons in both Mandarin and Mathematics. In the Mandarin session, I
introduced the children to nature-related vocabulary. I guided them in
identifying the words and attaching corresponding images. For Mathematics, I
focused on numbers one through ten. The children engaged in placing dot
stickers on paper according to the numbers. The children exhibited enthusiasm
and enjoyment throughout the lessons.

After concluding the lessons, I directed the children to form a line and wash
their hands. Additionally, I distributed meals to those children who hadn't
brought their own. I also assisted the full-day students in changing their

clothes. Subsequently, I aided a child in completing their homework. During

lunchtime, I helped in distributing food to the children and ensured their needs
were attended to during naptime. Upon their awakening, I assisted in tidying
their blankets and pillows. As the day came to a close, I looked after the
children until they were ready to depart for home.

B. ACTIVITY/TASK 1:

As we awaited the arrival of all the children at the center, those who had
already arrived were situated in their respective classrooms. I provided
assistance in supervising the small class. Unexpectedly, a girl approached me
and informed me that her friend was crying. Swiftly, I approached the boy and
inquired about the reason behind his tears. He explained that he was missing
his mother. I offered him comfort, and eventually, his tears subsided.

C. ACTIVITY/TASK 2:

During breakfast, I directed all the children to form a line and wash their
hands. Subsequently, the children retrieved their meals, and I provided food to
those who hadn't brought their own. After distributing the meals, I noticed
that one girl was no longer present. Immediately, I searched throughout the
center to locate her. Eventually, I found her in the restroom, where she had
gone without informing me. I advised her about the importance of
communicating with me before leaving a designated area.

D. ACTIVITY/TASK 3:

Following breakfast, I assisted the children in changing their clothes. While

doing so, a girl who attended half-day took out her toys and engaged in play
with her peers. Unexpectedly, she struck one of her friends. I promptly

approached her and inquired about the situation. Upon understanding the
cause, I proceeded to advise her against hitting her friends and explained the
potential consequences of such actions.

E. LESSON OF THE DAY:

Today, I conducted lessons in Mandarin and Mathematics for the children. In

the Mandarin session, I introduced them to vocabulary associated with nature.
The children found the learning process enjoyable. In the Mathematics session,
I taught them numbers from 1 to 10. The children displayed high levels of
happiness and enthusiasm while participating in the activity.

F. ACHIEVEMENT OF THE DAY:

Today, I provided assistance by taking over the small class during the morning
session and later relieving the big class during the afternoon session. I found
that I managed the class more effectively than in previous instances. This
experience brings me joy, and I look forward to maintaining this positive trend
in the future.

G. FUTURE STRATEGIES:

While conducting the lesson, a few children engaged in conversations with

each other and didn't adhere to the instructions. To address this, I plan to
incorporate more interactive games and coloring activities in future lessons.
This approach is driven by my observation that the children in this class
particularly enjoy participating in games and coloring.

A. HOW TODAY HAD BEEN:

Upon my arrival at the center, I extended greetings to the teachers. After

settling my belongings in the classroom, I assisted the teachers in receiving the
children as their parents dropped them off. Due to the ongoing Chinese New
Year celebration, only a limited number of children attended the center. Given

the low attendance, the principal made the decision to combine the little,
small, and middle classes into one classroom. Consequently, the teachers were
unable to conduct their usual lessons. In response, the teachers opted to play
educational videos for the children.

During breakfast, I aided the teacher in supervising handwashing and

distributing meals to the children. Following this, I assisted in changing the
children's clothes and diapers. Due to the reduced number of children, I
couldn't carry out the planned lesson for the day. Before lunchtime, the
teachers provided blocks and toys for the children to engage with. Throughout
the lunch period, I supported the teachers in meal preparation and feeding
those children who required assistance.

Post-lunch, I helped with cleaning the eating area. As naptime approached, I

participated in supervising the children. After they woke up, I distributed
snacks and assisted with changing their diapers. As the day concluded, I helped
the teachers in looking after the children before they departed for home.

B. ACTIVITY/TASK 1:

At breakfast, I assisted the teachers in distributing and serving food to the

children. While all the kids were eating, I noticed a child who wasn't consuming
the bread; instead, the child was playing with it. I promptly intervened to
prevent the child from playing with the bread and instructed them to finish
eating it.

C. ACTIVITY/TASK 2:

After assisting the children in the little class with changing their clothes, the
teacher in charge of the small class requested my help due to an urgent matter
she needed to address. Consequently, I combined the little and small classes
into a single classroom. While guiding the children through an activity involving

creating elephant paper plates, I heard a noise that caught my attention. Upon
investigating, I observed a boy who had pushed his friend's water bottle onto
the table, causing it to spill. I questioned the boy regarding his actions, and he
explained that he was acting out of playfulness. I proceeded to explain to him
that such behavior wasn't appropriate and that pushing the water bottle could
lead to spillage. He eventually recognized his mistake, apologized to his friend,
and understood the consequences of his actions.

D. ACTIVITY/TASK 3:

While it was lunchtime, the children formed a queue to collect their meals.
Unexpectedly, one child accidentally dropped their food onto the floor. I
swiftly approached to assess the situation and inquired about the cause. It
came to light that another child had run into the first child, causing the food
spillage. I instructed the child who had bumped into the other to help clean up
the spilled food and to apologize to their peer.

E. LESSON OF THE DAY:

Today, I couldn't execute the planned lesson due to unforeseen circumstances.

As the teacher responsible for the small class faced an emergency situation, I
stepped in to assist in managing the small class. Consequently, I merged the
little and small classes into a single classroom. I organized the necessary
materials and instructed the children in crafting elephant paper plates. I
handed out the paper plates to each child and guided them in coloring on the
plates. Following this, I aided them in cutting out the elephant trunks and
adhering them to the paper plates.

F. ACHIEVEMENT OF THE DAY:

Today's accomplishment is that the boy who previously hesitated to speak

proper words has begun to express himself by speaking some words. During
today's session, I encouraged the boy to use a crayon and engage in a pre-
writing worksheet. Upon completion, the boy signaled to me that he wanted to
wash his hands. I guided him in saying "I want to wash my hands" in Mandarin.
Eventually, he successfully articulated the sentence.

G. FUTURE STRATEGIES:

Within the small class, there is a boy who struggles to maintain his attention on
a single task for an extended period. He displays a limited ability to
concentrate on activities. As a result, I aim to discover strategies that can assist
this boy in improving his ability to focus on tasks for a more extended period.

It was a good first day as an intern. I was greeted with open arms by all the
Taska Koolkidz (Seri Intan) teachers, which made it easy for me to get along
with them. Introduce yourself to the crew, my supervisor (Teacher Mira)
instructed. After that, they gave me a breakdown of how the centre and
toddlers are managed.

B. ACTIVITY/TASK 1:

As we awaited the arrival of the remaining children at the center, those who
had already arrived settled into their respective classrooms. Unexpectedly, one
child carried her chair and positioned it outside the classroom. I inquired about
her decision to sit outside, and she shared that she felt friendless as her peers
didn't want to be her friends. I reassured her that by sitting inside the
classroom and engaging with her classmates, she could cultivate friendships. I
explained that sitting outside would hinder her from playing with her peers
and forming connections with them.

SCHOOL OF EDUCATION AND SOCIAL SCIENCES

Once the lunch period concluded, all the children were required to clean their
mouths and then settle onto their individual beds for naptime. As the children
positioned themselves on their beds, I assisted in supervising them until they
fell asleep. During this period, a few children engaged in conversations with
their peers and showed reluctance to sleep. I promptly approached these
children and encouraged them to lie down. I remained by their side until they
were able to fall asleep.

D. ACTIVITY/TASK 3:

Once all the children had awoken, I collaborated with the teachers to tidy up
their sleeping areas and put away the blankets. During snack time, I assisted in
distributing the food and providing it to the children. After the children had
completed their meals, I observed that one child's hair was unkempt.
Consequently, I summoned the child and provided assistance in brushing her
hair.

E. LESSON OF THE DAY:

Today, I conducted a lesson for the small class on facial features. I presented
them with a sheet depicting a blank face. This piqued their curiosity, leading
them to ask why the face lacked eyes, nose, and mouth. I directed the children
to utilize playdough to mold the various parts of the face. The children
displayed great enthusiasm and found the lesson enjoyable.

F. ACHIEVEMENT OF THE DAY:

Today, the regular teacher for the 4-year-old class was absent, and I took on
the responsibility of managing the class for the day. Throughout the day, I
employed various techniques learned from fellow teachers to manage and

engage the children. For instance, I guided them through counting how many
students were present and who wished to take a shower. Following that, I
instructed them to retrieve their towels and compare their numbers with what
I had. This approach not only fostered their counting abilities but also
encouraged greater independence among the children.

G. FUTURE STRATEGIES:

I believe I can devise activities that will aid in enhancing the children's writing
capabilities. This is prompted by my observation that the children haven't fully
developed their writing skills. As a result, I intend to organize additional
activities involving writing or coloring to address this need.

eating. However, one of the children didn't follow the instructions and began
eating early. I approached the child and reminded them to wait for the
teacher's directions before beginning their meal.

D. ACTIVITY/TASK 3:

Following the nap period, the children proceeded to use the restroom and
awaited the teacher's guidance. Unexpectedly, a girl approached me and
informed me about a pool of water on the floor. Without delay, I investigated
the situation and confirmed that a boy's diaper was leaking. I promptly assisted
him in changing to a fresh diaper and proceeded to clean the floor using a
mop.

E. LESSON OF THE DAY:

Today, I hadn't initially scheduled any lessons, as per the principal's request to
provide immediate assistance to the teacher in instructing and aiding the
children. Nevertheless, I supported the teachers by conducting a session on
Mandarin Language. During this session, I taught the children about Mandarin
strokes.

F. ACHIEVEMENT OF THE DAY:

Today's accomplishment is that the child who previously showed reluctance to

engage in conversations and play with peers has now begun interacting with
teachers and participating in activities with friends. I feel a sense of joy and
contentment witnessing the child's self-improvement and progress.

G. FUTURE STRATEGIES:

In the compact classroom where I provided assistance, there is a boy who

tends to engage in conversations while the teacher is conducting lessons. This
behavior has been causing disruptions for the other children, and the boy has
been resistant to cease talking even when reprimanded by the teacher.
Moving forward, I aim to discover strategies to address and resolve these
challenges.
