Term Definition

ad hoc requests Also known as one-off requests; informal requests that are not a
standard part of an individual’s workload

ask Questions from leadership that frame the way an individual will
construct and use data to provide answers

business rules Definitions and processes that a business follows in its operations

dashboards Visual and interactive expressions of data

noise Unnecessary information in a data set that gets in the way of analysis

query A statement created with a tool that can answer a question with data

select queries Queries that select data from tables, with the tables defined as just the
data an individual needs to accomplish a given task
