Empathy is Hard Word : The Cognitive Costs

Emotional health is the ability to cope with and manage emotions. The
capacity to form wholesome relationships is also a part of it. The capacity for clear
thinking and sound judgements is a sign of mental health. It also includes being
able to control your emotions and handle stress.

Empathy-expressing can be extremely exhausting and detrimental to one’s

health. It is possible to exhibit empathy without wearing yourself out by setting
boundaries and checking in with yourself. Empathy fatigue and compassion fatigue
are becoming more wide spread among people from all professions, despite the fact
that they are typically associated with mental health practitioners. Simply
expressed, it’s the exhaustion you experience from long-term responsibility for
other people’s suffering.

The secret to comprehending other people’s experiences is making an

attempt to understand their feelings and feel what they feel. Studies show that
empathy enhances patient happiness, adherence to therapy, and therapeutic
results. When patients feel heard and understood, they are more likely to adhere to
their treatment plan and engage in self care.
