Example-1: A force of 800 N is exerted on a bolt A as shown in Fig.
2.22a. Determine the horizontal and vertical components of the force.
Example-2: A man pulls with a force of 300 N on a rope attached to
29 a building, as shown in Fig. 2.23a. What are the horizontal and
vertical components of the force exerted by the rope at point A?
Determine the magnitude of the force and the angle u it forms with
the horizontal.
Sample Problem 2.3: our forces act on bolt A as shown. Determine
the resultant of the forces on the bolt.
2.22-2.24 Determine the x and y components of each of the forces
shown. Determine the resultant of those forces.
Problem-2.25: The hydraulic cylinder BD exerts on member ABC a
force P directed along line BD. Knowing that P must have a 750-N
component perpendicular to member ABC, determine (a) the
magnitude of the force P, (b) its component parallel to ABC.
Problem- 2.26: Cable AC exerts on beam AB a force P directed along
line AC. Knowing that P must have a 350-lb vertical component,
determine (a) the magnitude of the force P, (b) its horizontal
component.
