In our first online English lesson, I met Kanon, a Japanese student who wants to learn
English. She felt shy and lack of confidence in speaking at first but I tried my best to get her
attention and finally she smiled at me while talking. We focused on greetings and introducing
ourselves. We practiced saying words correctly and learning phrases for saying hello. Kanon
tried hard to improve her English, even though it was difficult for her. Seeing Kanon’s
determination and excitement was really inspiring, and it made me believe in education even
more. This lesson showed me how important it is to support and encourage language learners,
and I am excited to keep helping Kanon with her English.
