Dominant method of quality control is the method commonly used by U.S.
manufacturers. This method of quality control inspects the product defects only
after the products were made. But according to Deming, it was better to design the
manufacturing process to ensure that quality products were created from the start.
The economic sense of this design is that when a product was excellently made
from the beginning to the end of the manufacturing process, there will be lesser
wastes of materials, labor, energy and financing costs which increases the
efficiency use of resources. This method is logically simple but very impactful in
the business world.

2. Why is the philosophy of Deming easily accepted by the Japanese during that time?
Discuss it.
The reason behind why the philosophy of Deming easily accepted by the Japanese
is that Japan during that time was flattened by World War II and was mostly
shattered. Because of this, it is easier for them to apply the idea of Deming to their
manufacturing field. The logic behind this is that it is easier to teach people when
they have empty knowledge about a certain field compared to those people that
already have knowledge. It is harder to change what was practiced for a long time
compared to learning a new practice for the first time.

3. If you are Deming, Other than Japan where else can you offer your assistance in terms of
quality control?
If I am Deming, I would offer my assistance to China. Why? Because as I
observed for a long period of time, China is a kind of country that manufactures
and imports low-quality products. Although their imported products are cheap, the
downside of this is that their products lack reliability and cannot be expected to
stay for a long period of time. Deming focuses on high-quality manufacturing
processes notwithstanding the cost of products produced and this will greatly
affect the economy of China if it can be implemented in their manufacturing field.
