    Acrylamide 50% Solution

    The IUPAC name of acrylamide (acrylic amide) is 2-propenamide. Most acrylamide is


    used to synthesize polyacrylamides which find many uses as water soluble thickeners.
    These include use in waste water treatment, gel electrophoresis (SDS-Gel), enhanced oil
    recovery, papermaking, ore processing, and the manufacture of permanent press fabrics.
    In the paper industry polyacrylamides are used as paper strength resin, retention aids,
    drainage aids, flocculants, thickeners and coatings. Acrylamide can yield a high
    molecular weight polymer, which is one of the most important properties for flocculant.
    Another interesting application of acrylamide is its introduction to polyacrylonitrile fiber
    as a comonomer to improve some of its fiber properties.
