Use/Occupancy: Residential Building Photo: Discussion: Ylang lane townhouse is one of the Luxury, Sustainable houses build by the Mañosa Properties Inc. located in Ilang-ilang, New Manila, Quezon City. The townhouse has seven duplexes and single-detached units with a touch of luxurious Philippines indigenous materials interiors and featuring breezy open spaces. Each unit rises four story unit with a penthouse and is surrounded by lush vegetation. The Ylang Lane’s Townhouse manifested an indigenous landscaping, water conservation features and energy saving spaces that let in abundant natural lighting and ventilation.
The used of Sun-shading devices can be found in the penthouse. I
observed that they put some curtains or roller blinds in the windows which clocks sunlight, dust and protects furniture. It may be cheaper but I think its suits the interior of the house. Another thing that I found is the horizontal devices in the windows, I think it is a Horizontal louvre in vertical plane which allows the sunlight to shine in a window while keeping moisture out. There is also an Egg-Crate device attached in the wall near the exterior windows along with the horizontal louvre, applying this kind of sun-shading device is efficient since Philippines has a Hot Climate during summer which helps to lessen the direct heat coming from the sunlight. Lastly, the landscape sun-shading in the penthouse which helps the house to be protected from the heat.
