ABSTRACT
This research was motivated by the lack of a variety of media used to
improve the early reading skills of group B children in PAUD Kasih Bunda. The
purpose of this research is to produce big book media that is used to improve
children's early reading skills and to find out how the big book media is
implemented. This type of research is research and development (R&D) by raising
the stages of Suharsimi Arikunto's research including: Planning, Implementation,
Observation, and Evaluation/Reflection. The research object for group B children
was 7 children. Data collection uses the method of observation, documentation,
and questionnaires (questionnaire). The collected data were analyzed by
descriptive qualitative. The results showed that the resulting big book media was
suitable for use in learning with a percentage of 93.7% based on product trials by
two experts. Children's initial reading ability increases at each stage of
development with a percentage of development 1 of 55.3% and development stage
2 of 90.5%. Based on the results of this study it can be concluded that the
resulting big book media can improve the initial reading skills of group B children
in PAUD Kasih Bunda Academic Year 2023/2024.
