Learner Post Basic Pharmacist’s Assistant (12 months fixed term)

Main purpose of the Learnership


To provide employed and unemployed Basic Pharmacist’s Assistants candidates with an opportunity to enroll for Further
Education and Training Certificate: Pharmacist Assistance Learnership geared towards enabling the learner to qualify as a
Pharmacist Assistant (Post Basic), whilst gaining experience working in Department of Health facilities.

Required minimum education and training


• National Certificate: Pharmacist Assistance Course (Basic)
• Registered with SAPC as a qualified Basic Pharmacist Assistant.
• Candidates must be South African Citizens residing in Eastern Cape.
• Candidates must be employees of the ECDOH (employed) or must be unemployed.

Stipend
R 3 000 per month.

Learner Responsibilities
• Successfully complete a minimum of twelve month’s training at a Public Institutional pharmacy approved for the purpose
of training by The South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC) under the supervision of a pharmacist registered as a tutor
with SAPC.
• Attend all required training contact sessions.
• Complete and submit a Portfolio of Evidence.
• Completes all assessments and be found competent in all modules.
• Provide support to the healthcare team in the Pharmacy under the supervision of a registered Pharmacist and within the
legal scope of practice as outlined by the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC).
