Article 1:

Key concept – Economic Inflation

Effects locally – Increasing costs have an impact on the cost of living, which includes the cost of
necessities like food, shelter, and health care. As the cost of living increases and if salaries do not keep
up with inflation, this could strain households and the already-high poverty lines will push higher.

Effects globally – The rate of inflation in the Philippines may influence the peso’s exchange rate with
other currencies. Inflation may affect international trade by increasing the cost of imports while also
making Philippines exports more competitive if it causes the peso to devalue sufficiently.

Article 2:

Key Concept – Unrealistic Job Qualifications

Effect Locally - Due to these unrealistic job qualifications, the unemployment rate in our country is
skyrocketing. Citizens have limited access to job opportunities because it is hard for many job seekers to
meet those criteria. Furthermore, a high unemployment rate may lead to economic incompetence.
Untapped valuable human resources reduce potential productivity and economic expansion.

Effect Globally - Continuing increase of brain drain in which, educated and skilled individuals leave their
own country to seek better economic opportunities elsewhere. They are more likely to seek
employment in countries where their skills are more valued, and they have better wages.

Article 3:

Key Concept – Confidential Funds

Effect Locally - Confidential or intelligence funds are government funds allocated for specific purposes
without detailed public disclosure. In the Philippine context, these funds have been a subject of scrutiny
and controversy due to their potential for misuse and lack of transparency since, by their very nature
and their impact on national security, the specific uses of these funds are not disclosed to the public.
While they can provide flexibility for government operations, they also pose risks related to
transparency, misuse, and corruption.
Effect Globally - While these funds themselves may not directly impact global economic, their use and
management can influence how the Philippines is perceived and engages with the global community,
potentially affecting areas such as investment, aid, and diplomatic relations.

Article 4:

Key Concept – Poverty

Effect Locally - Many Filipinos suffer from poverty, resulting in an inability to meet their families' daily
requirements. Due to poverty, most families cannot obtain adequate food, housing, and protection from
illness. Many households cannot afford proper schooling for their children due to the country's
tremendous poverty. Some programs provide free educational services, but this is insufficient for
families to be assured of a stable future. They simply lack the resources to support themselves in their
daily needs such as food, medicine, bills, and daily transportation wages, resulting in many college
students dropping out because they do not have enough money for school.

Effect Globally- Due to the country's ongoing effects of poverty, many parents of various households
look for any job opportunities that may arise and even resort to moving overseas and leaving their
families to seek better wages, living conditions, and career opportunities in various countries to earn
decent money to support their families.
