child well-being, reduces poverty, and strengthens human rights. It (Higher education) is also
associated with lowering the crime rates. Higher education has an important role in preparing
learners with the advanced knowledge and skills they need to succeed in today’s global
economy. It plays a vital role in developing appropriate and necessary skills in the workforce to
meet the demands of job market. Higher education is also associated with higher salaries/wages.
Therefore individuals with higher levels of education earn more, pay more taxes, and are more
likely than others to move up the socioeconomic ladder. According to the World Bank, “Well-
educated people are more employable, earn higher wages, and cope with economic shocks
better.” Therefore we can say that higher education serves as an engine for economic change,
and it leads people to develop economically.
