ESSAY ON EDUCATION

I feel that education is the solution to all problems faced by society today.
Therefore, if there are no restrictions or obstacles of any type, I would like
to spread education and improve literacy rates, if not achieve 100%
literacy in the nation. The main issues of modern society, including
unemployment, poverty, corruption, pollution, violence and even crime can
be solved through education.

The root cause of unemployment is lack of opportunities, which can be

traced back to lack of education. Simply getting a degree is not sufficient.
Good education means developing a well-rounded personality with
effective spoken skills and a good practical understanding of theoretical
concepts as well. Also, quality education can empower people to work on
their own start-ups or come up with innovations.

With better employment rates, the level of poverty will also decrease. Also,
those who find good jobs because of their education, will understand the
importance of education and ensure that their future generations also get
educated. This will steadily improve the standards of living of a family
through the years.

Additionally, education brings in transparency. An educated person knows

his rights and also has a fair understanding of what to do in case he/she
has been cheated. It makes one aware of the rules and rights. Knowing
what to do, coupled with raising the issue in the right forum will bring down
corruption rates. The lesser the corruption, the lesser the wastage of
precious time and funds and the greater the progress of a nation.

More often than not, violence stems from unemployment, poverty or an

uncouth mind. Education solves the first two problems as mentioned
above. Quality education also teaches one to think logically, and not in a
primitive way. Those with a genuinely sophisticated mind will not indulge in
violence. Only those who are primitive in their ways take to violence. So,
education might improve the law-and-order situation too, and increase
social security for everyone.
Finally, education opens the mind to think beyond the self and the area in
which one lives, and makes one aware of global problems like
environmental issues. It also helps an individual understand the role he
plays and how small steps taken at a personal level can actually make a
difference. Explaining concepts like carbon footprint and global warming to
illiterates is very challenging. People need to understand the gravity of the
situation before taking any preventive steps. Hence, education becomes
important even in this scenario.

To conclude, as indicated by the various above-mentioned

examples, education is the tool which can fix many contemporary
problems. Thus, I would like to focus completely on imparting quality
education to both children and adults, to secure a better future for them, for
society and also for the nation.
