CONSERVATION OF MOMENTUM - SHEET: 3 (Lecture – 3)

1. From a uniform rectangular lamina, a semicircular part is cut, as shown in r

figure. Find the distance of the center of mass of remaining part from ‘O’.

2. From the base of a hemisphere, a right cone of height R/2 and same base
has been scooped out. Find the C.M. of the remaining part.

3. From a 16  8 cm rectangular uniform plane sheet exactly one quarter

of the sheet is removed as shown in the figure. If the origin be taken as
the centre of the sheet considered as shown in the figure. Find the 8 (0, 0)
coordinates of the centre of mass of the remaining sheet.

4. There is a disc of mass M and radius R. Two circular disc each Y

of radius R/2 are cut simultaneously from the disc and placed
as shown in the figure. If the centre of the original disc is the
origin. Find the new coordinates of centre of mass of the

5. From a uniform square plate, ¼th of its total area is removed. Find the
new position of centre of mass of the remaining plate according to the
given figure?
