PROCESS FOR UPDATING L@TITUDE PANEL FIRMWARE

If the Panel is on a live system, ensure a copy of the configuration file is downloaded prior to starting any upgrades.
Resources needed:
1. Laptop with WIN32 Disk Imager application installed
2. 2 x USB Stick / Flash drive

PREPARATION WORK

1. Insert a clean USB Flashdrive in to the PC

2. Open the WIN32 Disk Imager application – the following window will appear:

3. Locate the correct FW image file by clicking on the blue icon (highlighted above)

4. Select the correct FW image file (stored in a folder on the PC):

5. Click on the Open icon

6. Select the correct destination drive (the one with the USB Flashdrive):
7. Click on WRITE. Press YES on the warning window that appears:

8. The file will now write to the USB Flashdrive – you will see a progress bar scrolling across the window:

9. When completed, you will get a WRITE SUCCESSFUL Message window:

10. Remove the USB Flashdrive from the PC.

11. Repeat for the Vision Repeater ensuring you copy the correct FW file over for this unit – it is different to the
Taktis Panel.
1. UPDATE THE L@TITUDE PANEL FIRMWARE

a. Connect a laptop to the Panel and download the configuration file using the Loop Explorer 2 software.

b. Place a two pin jumper (shunt) on to header X17 (three pin header to the left of the keyswitch barrel) –
across centre and right pins.

c. Place the USB Stick in to the USB port on the L@titude Panel Display Card

d. Reboot the Panel by pressing and releasing the blue RESET button at top left of the Display Card.
The Panel will now start up. By placing the shunt across X17, this forces the Panel to look to the USB drive for
further action. If the Firmware upgrade is going ahead correctly, the screen will display

“INSTALLING SYSTEM”

This will be followed by listing the files that are being installed:

The system appears to “hang” when it gets down to the usr file. The Panel will display:

Copying usr file to system

This “hang time” is due to the size of the file and should not give cause for concern.

On completion, the last three lines on the display will show:

Erasing configuration

Configuration erased

Power off, remove the configuration jumper for the Board and reboot

Remove the USB Stick and shunt from X17. Power the Panel down and reboot. Make sure the write enable switch is
set.

When the Panel powers up, an AUTOLEARN will be carried out. Let this finish.

(Note: If the system “hangs” at the INITIALISE LOOPS page, press the blue RESET button again to re-boot the Panel
to complete the process)

On completion, click on the SYSTEM INFO icon (in Level 2) and carry out another AUTOLEARN by clicking on the
AUTOLEARN icon - you may need to enter the correct Panel address if the system is a networked system.

When the AUTOLEARN is complete, upload the configuration file to the Panel.
PROCESS FOR UPDATING VISION REPEATER FIRMWARE

If the Panel is on a live system, ensure a copy of the configuration file is downloaded prior to starting any upgrades.

RESOURCES NEEDED
3. Laptop with WIN32 Disk Imager application installed
4. 2 x USB Stick / Flash drive
PREPARATION WORK
12. Ensure the USB Stick has the FW file on for the Vision Repeater Unit

13. Connect laptop to Panel and download configuration file using Loop Explorer 2 software

2. UPDATE THE PANEL FIRMWARE

a. Place a two pin jumper (shunt) on to header X14 (three pin header at the bottom of the Board when the
Unitis in an open position). The shunt should go across the left and middle pins (pins closest to the cable
terminals

b. Install the Flashdrive with the FW file on it in the USB port

c. Re-boot the Panel, with the Flashdrive installed and the shunt fitted, by pressing and releasing the blue REST
button, SW4 (located top right when the Unit is open)
d. The Panel will now start up. By placing the shunt across X14, this forces the Panel to look to the USB drive
for further action. If the Firmware upgrade is going ahead correctly, the screen will display

“INSTALLING SYSTEM”

e. This will be followed by listing the files that are being installed. The system appears to “hang” when it gets
down to the usr file. The Panel will display:

j. When the AUTOLEARN is complete, upload the configuration file to the Panel.
