PegLyte Instructions
The procedure is covered by OHIP. Please bring your health card, a list of your current medications, a
denture cup if applicable, and your reading glasses if you require them to read.

Please arrange for a family member or friend to drive you home as you will receive sedation for
the procedure. No taxis, ubers or buses to be used unless you are accompanied by a family member or friend.

Your doctor will advise you if you need to stop or hold any of your medications prior to your procedure.

High blood pressure medications: please take medications the morning of your procedure with small sips of
water.

Please follow the instructions below as the instructions that accompany the PegLyte package are not accurate.

Do not eat any nuts or seeds at least 5 days prior to your appointment.

Diabetic patients → Please start taking more clear fluids two days prior to procedure then the day before start
the clear fluid diet.

The day before your appointment:

Get (3) Dulcolax Tablets & (1) PegLyte cleanser from pharmacy.

No solid food the day before the procedure. Clear liquid diet only. The more liquids you drink the better.

Acceptable liquids:
water, 7 up, ginger ale, sprite,green tea, white cranberry juice, banana popsicles, jello(no red)
apple juice and white grape juice and chicken broth.

Unacceptable liquids:
coffee, tea, milk, coke, Pepsi, soup , anything with color

Before taking Peglyte you may take a Gravol tablet if you have a sensitive stomach.

1. If you receive the box with 4 PACKETS PEGLYTE do the following:

At 2:00pm: take 3 Dulcolax tablets.
At 6:00pm: mix the contents of ONE packet with 1 litre of water. Drink one glass every 15 minutes or so, and
continue with the other 2 packets until 3 litres have been consumed.

2. If you receive the 4 LITER JUG PEGLYTE with the powder inside, do the following:
At 2:00pm: take the 3 Dulcolax tablets.
At 6:00pm: fill the jug with water up to the indicated line and mix until powder is dissolved. Drink
one glass every 10 minutes or so, until 3 litres have been consumed.

If you feel nauseous, slow down. Save one litre for the morning.
No other liquids except for the last litre of the prep on the day of your procedure.

The day of your appointment:

3 hours before your appointment time consume the 4th packet or 4th litre of peglyte.

Important!: DO NOT EAT OR DRINK ANYTHING WITHIN 3 HOURS BEFORE YOUR PROCEDURE TIME.

Please arrive at least 15 minutes early to fill out your paperworks.

EXPECT TO BE AT THE CLINIC ANYWHERE BETWEEN 1½ - 2 HOURS.
