What is Divorce?

It is the legal dissolution of a marriage by a court or other competent body or

a legal decree dissolving a marriage. Unlike western countries, the family code laws in the Philippines
forbid divorce. The Philippines, with 80% of its population being devoutly Roman Catholic, is only one
of two countries in the world that prohibits divorce, with the other being the smallest country in the
world—Vatican City.

In a city in the USA, one husband and wife filed for a divorce. They have been married for
almost 10 years. The wife is the one who filed for the divorce. Why? Because she is being brutally hurt
by her husband. For the past 4 years of their relationship, the husband had been jobless and always
being drunk, that ends up on him hurting his wife. "Domestic violence" refers to many kinds of abuse
committed by a member of a family, a household, or an intimate partner against another member of
the family, household, or against the intimate partner. "Domestic Violence" also refers to many forms
of abuse committed by one person against another in certain dating relationships or engagements.
You can seek a court order to protect you if your abuser harms you physically, makes you afraid that
serious physical harm is going to happen to you, or threatens, pressures or forces you to have sex.
"Domestic violence" is sometimes called "battering," and it also refers to abusive patterns of power
and control in family, household, and intimate partner relationships. This was explained to the wife by
the judge and her lawyer and said that she will push through with the divorce. She didn’t want her
kids to have a complete family but with a toxic relationship with their father and rather have a happy
and free family that only requires a mother and her children.

In this story, the husband was convicted to a fine of up to $250 and a maximum jail sentence of
1 year. And the family moved to another state to start a new life without her husband and their father.

For this case, the feelings and emotions played a really crucial role in her decision-making. She
made this choice not only for her sake but also for her entire family's safety and growth.
