“Self-help book’s side-effects on NEU students”


1. Objectives:
There are THREE particular objectives of this study:
- To investigate the potential side effects.
- To analyze reasons for misunderstanding beliefs of self-help.
- To recommend NEU students to take full advantage of self-help books along with
suggesting more applicable sources of knowledge.

2. Research Questions:
The study is conducted to answer the following research questions:
- What are the noticeable side-effects that self-help books can bring to NEU students?
- Why do people form misconceptions about self – help books?
- What should be done to use self-help books for high productivity as well as are there any
other alternative sources of knowledge?

3. Literature review:
1. The origin of self – help books:
a. Definition of self-help book
b. How self – help books has developed
c. The role of self – help books
d. Self – books categories
 What aspect of life do self – help books mostly affect
2. Readership in NEU
3. Noticeable side – effects of self – help books, which have influence on NEU students
4. External & Internal factors that lead to misunderstanding of self – help books:
a. External factors (stress from school/ work, love issues, …)
b. Internal factors (social anxiety disorder, “one-size fits all” approach, …)
5. Some guidelines for readership in NEU about the way they read and understand self –
help books
6. Some suggestion for further “mental – curing” documentation
