The Knowledge and Technology Transfer Division (KTTD) at USeP started in 2015 and
is headed by Engr. Filmann T. Simpao.
Last year They have strummed around 50 or more women-preneurs, the adaptive
community of College of Business Administration extension program, which they
classified into 6 groups and referred to as incubatees. They are trained by our college of
business Administration Extension Program to do a business plan and technology
adaptation; those are some of the trainings they offer in AGILab. AGILab is a Technology
Business Incubator based in University in Southeastern Philippines, Davao City,
supports aspiring tech entrepreneurs. Also known as the Sandbox of Davao City, AGILab
conducts activities like training, mentorship and innovation programs (Training and
seminars for students, INNO Fiesta (pitching), Tech shopping to Tech adaption, First IGP
Summit, Barangay bazaars). KTTD engaged in smart farming which some of their
coordinators are producing but due to pandemic KTTD struggled to operate but an
opportunity came from DOST-PCAARD they pushed through. A collaborative project
with the department of Trade and Industry (DTI XI) and the Department of Science and
Technology called DigiHub-FabLab Davao that aims to provide the tools, training and
resources for their innovations in academe, micro, small and medium scale enterprises
(MSMEs), inventor groups, hobbyists and design professionals. Because of USeP being
dependent on funding from agencies, they aligned on what is embedded to their
university. Knowing that USEP is an academic institution with various fields, they
engaged more with smart farming, post-harvest facilities and food technologies for the
reason that Government agencies, like DOST, are interested in funding projects aligned
with Agri- tech. USeP adapted the DOST 6 Ps Project Output Guide when assessing
technologies/ innovations.
We have Intellectual Property Inventory compiled from the students and faculty.
At first, the team who created the research is not ready for business because struggles
came up because the research is highly technical. USeP also considered Spin off because
some of their faculties are interested. So USeP crafted Spin off policy which they
presented to top management and research development.
For three (3) consecutive years (2021-2023) the Caraga State University was able to
receive a “Platinum Recognition Award” awarded by the Intellectual Property Office of
the Philippines.
