How to design classroom language test.

Kelompok: Bintang, Doni, Wulan, Yoan.

Language test: Test yg fokus tentang bahasa.


There’s 5 tests: Listening, speaking, writing, reading, grammar/vocabulary.

Test yg d buat seputaran 5 test.


Bisa satuan (discreet-point), Gabungan (integrative), performance based, communicative language
test.

Consider these questions:

What is the purpose of the test? (pelaksanaannya untuk apa? Daily? Pretest? Post-test? Midterm?
Final? Intinya what test, measurement/assessment?)
What are the objective of the test? (if the topic is Narative, and reading comprehension, then
consider the aspect of reading comprehension. The objective probably are to measure the students’
comprehension on the main idea, details, reference, inreference, vocabulary in the narative text)
How is the specification of the test? (Spesifikasi content and appearance. Appearance related to the
shape/bentuk/ i.e multiple choice, ABCD, 40 questions, 2x60 minutes. Content is the based of the
test, pembentuk testnya. Usually use table of specification contain the aspect, item numbers, tota.
Total item wajib sesuai dengan apperance spesification.)
How will the test be practical
what kind of scoring, grading, or feedback is expected?
What are the scoring guides that would reflect the students’ achievement?

Proficiency test: Designed to test global competence in a language it is standardized, usually
summative and norm-referenced (IELTS, TOEFL)
Placement test: is design to place students into particular level or section of a language curriculum or
school
Diagnostic test: design to diagnose specified aspects of a language.
Achievement test: designed in classroom lessons, should be limited to particular material addressed
in a curriculum within a particular time frame.

Steps to test constriction:


A. Assessing clear, unambiguous objectives
B. Drawing up test specifications
C. Devising test items
D. Designing multiple-choices items.
