WRITTEN ASSIGNMENT UNIT 7

DIFFERENCES IN ILLNESS AND SYMPTOMS AND DIFFERENCES IN HEALTH

OUTCOME

Women and men possess a lot of difference either in illness or in health comes. The reasons are

clearer that support these differences.

In the text book odgen 2019, it is stated that women are more likely to be obese than men, this is

true considering that a lot of women do not want to incorporate jogging into their daily lives as a

form of physical activity. For this reason, they have a lot of fats build up in their bodies which

leads to obesity. According to Dubner, 2007. Women who are of higher socioeconomic status are

more likely to be obese than men and again women who were nutritionally deprived as children

are more likely to be obese as adults than men who were deprived as children.

Secondly, Women are more likely to be diagnosed with depression than men. A good example

can be taken on the process of divorce, during this process men vent their anger of divorce on
jogging and meeting people while women lock their safe in their room crying and thinking about

the whole process and again women think about their children’s future more often and as a result,

they are more likely to be depressed than men and women are more likely to suffer from feeling

tired, headache and bladder problems, this can be due to lack of physical exercise as women

neglect this kind of life, Due to their busy schedules at home of making sure children go to

school early in the morning they work up early preparing for them including their husbands and

another reason can be due to lack of enough iron in their bodies because of their ability to give

children they may have used all the iron in the body and they feel weak as less blood is being

made in their bodies .

Thirdly, Men who smoke are more likely to be diagnose with lung cancer and HIV/AIDS and

digestive disorders. This is true in that more men finds it hard to stop smoking as compared to

women who smoke. Women easily finds a substitute that enters on smoking but men find it hard

to find a substitute to enter on smoking. A lot of men engage in extra marital affairs as compared

to women and they are really more likely to be diagnosed with HIV/AIDS. On the other hand,

men who work in construction eats nsima that is hard and that can pose an effect on digestive

disorders and they again eat a lot of meats with a lot of paper and that affects their digestive

disorders.

Lastly, Due to the fact that men are the heads of the family they have a responsibility to provide

of the family, they are always busy and does not spare time to have a contact with their

healthcare services, have their screening done to check their health and they have fewer hospital
admissions that is they do not see their doctors easily when they feel pain or are sick they only

go their doctors when the illness has become worse as a result they die fast that women who run

to their doctors when they feel that they are ill as such they are saved and the illness is termed

fast before it spreads in their bodies. In all of the above statement you will see that help seeking

among men is a challenge. On the other hand, women visit their doctors every 3 months for their

body check and screenings

Conclusion

With the above reasons and differences, it can be drawn to our attention that women live longer

while men live less due to their involvement in different harmful life styles.
