Safety instructions

1. Safety instructions
Before starting to work, the power supply has to be switched off
and to be secured against reconnection!

2. Mounting of the transport safety device of the

weighing section for protection of the load cell

3. Dismounting of the measuring wheel

• First of all dismount the discharge hopper of the Multicor
S40 and dismount the measuring wheel by the following
steps:
➀ Four screws to compensate expansion have to be loose-
ned, but not totally unscrewed compling it turning. The mea-
suring wheel is detached from the compling disk and is
hindered from falling down by the collar of the measuring
wheel shaft.
➁ Hold onto the measuring wheel shaft of the Multicor S40 in
order to prevent it turning, possibly at the ventilator of the
measuring motor. Lift the measuring wheel and turn it 90 de-
grees clockwise or anticlockwise, so that the flattened bore
in the measuring wheel bottom is in congruence with the
flattened measuring wheel shaft.

ATTENTION! The measuring wheel has to be protected from

falling down (hold onto it)!
Weight of the measuring wheel:
Type S40 = approx. 10 kg

4. Exchange of the drive unit

Please pay attention to sketches 2 and 3 for a better under-
standing of the following steps in assembly!

Exchange of the drive unit 4.2. Mounting

4.1. Dismounting
– Remove the back panel of the weighing section in order to
get baccess to the drive motor.
– Disconnect the motor and remove motor fastening screws. Lift
off the motor, if necessary, by applying a lever at the parting
line between flange and motor mounting plate.
– Unscrew speed pick-up.
– The 4 fastening screws of the drive unit are now accessible,
loosen fastening screws.
– Screw down back panel of the weighing section for stabilizati-
on, and unscrew weighing section housing from the weighing
section base plate (4 x M8), and lift off the weighing section.
– Loosen the three fastening screws of the weighing section
base plate/drive unit, and pull the plate with the drive unit up-
ward out of the housing cover.

4.2. Mounting
– Attention! Transport safety device of the replacement drive unit
is not to be taken off before the drive unit is completely instal-
led!
– Insert drive unit with plate from above into the cover and screw
it down.
– Replace weighing section and screw it down.
– Remove the back panel and screw down the drive unit.
– Take off transport safety device of the weighing section and
control the dimensions 80 +/- 0.5 mm according to sketch 4.
– Mount the safety devices for transport once again.

4.2. Mounting Exchange of the drive unit

– Mount motor, attention: distance between the fore-parts of the

coupling claws has to be 2 mm! Control and adjust, if necessa-
ry, the coupling of the motor.

– Connect motor, take off the transport safety device of the drive
unit and mount speed pick-up.

– Mount back panel.

• Mounting of the measuring wheel according to the following

steps:

➀ Lift measuring wheel and put it under the measuring wheel

shaft such that the flattened bore in the measuring wheel
bottom is approx. in congruence with the flattened measu-
ring wheel shaft.
➁ Centre measuring wheel on clutch disk upon lifting,
➂ Move measuring wheel on the flattening of the measuring
wheel shaft up to the limit stop, if necessary after corre-
sponding correction against turning of measuring wheel or
shaft and
➃ Turn measuring wheel against measuring wheel shaft at an
angle of 90 degrees clockwise or anticlockwise. The measu-
ring wheel is then kept from falling down by the shaft collar.
➄ Screw down 4 screws f in the compling disk and step by
step tighten them to a torque of 13Nm.

– Take off transport safety device at the load cell.
