History of England Discussion, Group Work
This course, in a broad historical scope, studies the social and political history of England. It intends to understand
if and how the culture, society, and history of England are shaped by different European and national movements
and events and how these movements also shaped the development of English literary periods. The course has a
particular focus on the process and politics of the formation of the United Kingdom.

COURSE REQUIREMENTS AND CLASS POLICY

Each student is required to:


1. attend classes and participate in examinations

Course Requirements 2. submit accomplished assignments/perform presentation either in group or solo


3. participate in group work and respond to instructions; and
4. Pass the examinations with a minimum of D (-) grade

Attendance

Students are expected to attend all the classes.
Classroom decorum
Students are required to:
1. wear proper dress during the class
2. speak in English in class
3. Avoid making any type of noise in the class and
4. Report to class on time

Examination/ Evaluation
1. Quizzes may be announced or unannounced.
2. Term examinations are always announced.
3. Cheating is strictly prohibited. A student who is caught cheating will be given a score of
“0” for the first offense. For the second offense, he/she will automatically be suspended
from the course.
4. Students who missed exams, or quizzes may only be excused for any of the following
reasons:
a. participation in a University/ Department approved field trip or activity (must
be cleared one week in advance);
b. personal illness (must present medical certificate); and death or serious
illness in the immediate family

Course Instructor’s Profile

Md. Kawser Ahmed is an Assistant Professor at the Department of English and Modern Languages of International University of Business Agriculture and Technology
(IUBAT). He achieved Master of Arts in Applied Linguistics & ELT and Bachelor of Arts (Honours) from the Department of English of the University of Dhaka. He
concentrates on research interests in the arena of English Language Teaching and Learning within and beyond Native Country, Pedagogical Aspects in English
Language, Teaching Techniques and Strategies, Learner Autonomy and Learner Centeredness, Speaking as a Skill of Enigma and Analysis on Errors of Non-native
Learners.
He has been a member of Bangladesh English language Teachers’ Association (BELTA) and The AsiaTEFL. He has attended a number of national and international
seminars and conferences on the practicality of English Language Teaching (ELT), English as a Second Language (ESL)/English as a Foreign Language (EFL) and
English Language Teaching (ELT) in the context of present globalized world organized by BELTA, US Embassy, American Center and British Council. He has
published a number of quality research articles on English Language Teaching (ELT) which have been indexed in different academic and research sites and wings of
the world.
