information package to guide you through the steps you must complete.

The Office of Internationalization provides specialized support for international and exchange students joining the StFX
community from around the world. We pride ourselves on offering excellent services; in 2020 international students at
StFX voted our office number one in Canada and number six in the world in an international survey of student
satisfaction. We look forward to supporting you during your time at StFX.

The Office of Internationalization is located in Nicholson Tower, room 109. Students are free to drop in during office hours,
Monday – Friday: 8:30 am to 4:30 pm (Atlantic Time), make an appointment with the appropriate advisor, or email us at

Next Steps to Joining StFX
Follow these steps to make sure you have completed all the requirements to be successful in your journey to Canada and
starting your studies at StFX.
• Visit office365.stfx.ca
• Log in using your StFX username and password, found in your acceptance letter
• Click on the ‘Outlook’ tile to access your email
Access to your StFX email account is not required until you register for courses. If you wish to access this account now,
Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) is required the first time you login to your StFX Microsoft 365 account. MFA is a simple
way of protecting user information and data by requiring users to provide more than just their username and password
when attempting to log in. It helps validate who you are by adding a second step in the sign in process. If you are require
assistance with MFA, please visit MFA Support.
STEP 5: REGISTER FOR COURSES
New students beginning their studies in September will be able to register for courses in July. More information to
come regarding the registration process.
Once students are registered in courses, changes can be made to a student’s class registration up until the end of the
first week of classes. In the StFX Student Service Portal: portal.stfx.ca, you will find other useful information like
course descriptions, grade reports, and your class schedule.
Orientation is your opportunity to connect with other international students and find out information that will get you
ready for the term. Topics will include:
• StFX 101 – What you need to know for your first week
• How to be successful in the Canadian classroom
• Adjusting to living and learning in Canada
• How to access health care and how your health insurance works
• Working in Canada during and after your studies
• Campus resources and supports

*What is DCB? DCB, or declining balance, is a debit system allowing students to purchase items at
various cafes and coffee shops on campus. Additional blocks of DCB can be purchased in $50
increments.

Tuition and Fees
International students are required to pay 65% of their total fees before September 15th each year. The remaining 35% is
due by January 15th. Students beginning their studies in January must pay 100% of their fees by January 15th. If you wish
to pay your tuition fees prior to arriving in Canada, as a requirement of the Study Direct Stream (SDS) study permit
application path, you can request a receipt of your payment by emailing the Student Accounts Office at
studentaccounts@stfx.ca.
