Submission Guidelines

The Yangon University of Foreign Languages is delighted to announce call for papers to be
published in the “Journal of Language, Literature and Social Sciences JLLS (2022)”. The
journal will be published with special focus on “Enhancement of Research Community through
Innovative Research” and “The Role of Language, Literature and Social Science in Modern
Society”.
The JLLS is a peer-reviewed journal, including theoretical, practical and empirical papers. It
welcomes papers from both local and international academicians, researchers and authors who are
interested in language & linguistics, literature, social sciences, and action research.

The following should be read before submitting the papers.

Author’s Publication Guidelines
1. Paper must be submitted electronically both in a recent Microsoft Word format and pdf format.
2. Must be related to the theme and if not, it will be rejected.
3. Must be original, not be partially or fully published in any local or international journals.
4. Must be written in English language or respective foreign languages (Chinese, French,
German, Japanese, Korean, Myanmar (Language or Literature), Russian and Thai) – (A4 8
to 15 pages) (3500- 5000 word counts) in MS Word file and pdf file formats. If the paper
from Myanmar Department is submitted from linguistic point of view, it must be written
either in English or in Myanmar Language. If Myanmar language is included in your paper,
we encourage you to use Pyidaungsu font (11 for Pyidaungsu font, 12 for Times New Roman
Font and Standard Font size for respective languages). Abstract on papers for Languages
(including Myanmar Language) must be written in English.
5. Text format: Times New Roman font, 12 pt. size and 1.0 pt. line spacing. Indents of the
page 2 cm margins. Per page footnotes - 10 pt. Pages are numbered at the bottom center.
6. Figures and tables: All figures (graphic objects) and tables are numbered and named with
their sources. See "Table 1" and "Figure 1". The word "Table" or "Figure" is placed in the
upper right corner, the title is indicated above the table in the center, while the source is
specified below the table and left-aligned.
7. The paper should include
(i) Title (Times New Roman font – 14 pt.)
(ii) Name of authors (Not more than three)
(iii) Institution/ Email address
(iv) Abstract (not more than 300 words) which includes Introduction, Objectives,
Methodology, Results and Keywords (5-8)
(v) Introduction (contains a description of the research problem, its relevance for science
in relation to previously published research, Literature Review, Research Method,
Research Questions, research design, study areas/ participants, sampling)
(vi) Body text
(vii) Conclusions (contains the major findings of the paper, Findings and Discussion)
(viii) References in Myanmar should be indicated before references in foreign languages.
The references list should be numbered continuously for all languages as in the
attached file.

Kindly request to submit the paper only by the email of the first author.
9. If your paper needs to be revised according to the comments of reviewers, the information
will be delivered to the first author not later than 30 May 2022.
10. If the paper is accepted, the first author will be informed from 28 May until 30 May 2022. If
the first author does not get any reply email until 30 May 2022, we regret to inform you that
your paper is not accepted.
11. Submission fees will not be refunded whether your paper is selected or not.
 11.1 Submission fees - 20,000 Kyats (twenty thousand kyats)
11.2 Publication fees- 20,000 Kyats (twenty thousand kyats) (If the paper is selected, the
author must deposit to the KBZ Bank account number - 23230202100884101)

Your abstract should contain no more than 350 words, include the purpose of the article, research
questions, methods, and findings/results. The abstract should be included future implementations of
your research/future work1.

1. INTRODUCTION
(First Heading Time News Roman 12, bold, center alignment, with all letters capitalized)
Paper sections are separated through headings and sub-headings. The first headings of the
paper should be numbered consecutively with all letters capitalized. The body of the text should be
in Time News Roman 12 Font, alignment justified with single line spacing and no indent is needed
at the beginning of each Paragraph. The Headings of the paper should be as follows. 1. Introduction,
2. Methodology, (i.e. research design, literature review, study areas/ participants/ period, sampling,
data collection tools and techniques, data analysis, ethical considerations) 3.Results/Findings (with
tables/ figures/ diagrams/ photos, etc.) 4. Discussion 5. Conclusion and 6. References.

After the sub-heading number, a period (.) (not a colon or a semi colon) should be included as
mentioned above.

2. PAGE FORMAT

The spacing between header and paragraph should be 3pt. The column spacing should be 0.3”.

2.1. Header, Footer Format

Header and footer margin should be 0.4 inches. Please do not add page numbers. These will be added,
if the paper is assembled to publish.

2.2. Footnotes Format

Footnotes should be in 10 point Times New Roman font, single line spacing

3. TABLES AND FIGURES FROMAT

All tables and figures should be cited in text as Table 1, Figure 1, etc. Please make sure that they are
of high resolutions.

3.1. Tables

All tables should be numbered like (e.g. Table 1) and table caption should be Times New Roman
11, bold, centered and above the table.

3.2. Figures

All diagrams, photographs, graphs and charts are regarded as Figures. All figures should be numbered
like (e.g. Figure 1) and figure captions should be Times New Roman 11, bold, centered and beneath the
figure.

 3. OTHER REQUIREMENTS

Acknowledgements are optional and not be numbered. It should be in Times New Roman 10, single line
spacing. Recommendation is also optional and numbered, if included. Appendix

REFERENCES

(Times New Roman 10, (or) Pyidaungsu 9, second line indented 1.27 cm, with single line spacing)
The reference list should be at the end of the paper. It should not be numbered and used in
APA (American Psychological Association) style (also for in-text citation).

Examples:
(Book) Author, A. A. (Year of publication). Title of work: Capitalize first letter of subtitle.
Location: Publisher Name.
For whose names do not meet the English culture like First Name, Last Name or Surname:
For Chinese: 1) reference list: Surname First name (no comma added) and 2) in-text citations:
Surname First name (no comma added)
For Thai: 1) reference list: Full name (first name surname); 2) in-text citations: first name,
year
For Burmese: 1) reference list: Full name (personal names consisting of one or more words)
without any title (e.g. Daw, Dr), 2) in-text citations: full name, year
For papers citing articles in languages other than English, please give the title in both the English
and original language citation.
