hunting wabbits as we show you the best ways
to catch and kill these cute little things.
Our country is teeming with wild rabbits. There are an estimated 38 million in the UK and their population
grows by around 2 percent every year. This means there is no shortage of rabbit in the wild and wild rabbits
are classed as pests in the UK, which means you can do it all year rouns. As usual you are only allowed to
hunt rabbits on private land with the landowners permission and there are some restrictions as to how you
can do it. Warning, although none of the following is graphic it may upset some people...
Air Rifle
Finally you will need the right clothing, different types of camoflauge

you will be hunting. One thing I would recommend doing is practicing in the clothing that you will actually

Snares
A word of warning... Under the Wildlife and Coun-
tryside Act 1981 and the Wildlife Order (Northern
Ireland) 1985, free-running snares are legal through-
out the UK, while self-locking snares are illegal. A
free-running snare is supposed to slacken when the
animal stops struggling, while a self-locking snare can
only become tighter. However, these terms are not
clearly defined and a rusted, kinked or knotted snare
effectively becomes self-locking.

What You’ll Need To Build Your Snare
You only really need three things. Wire, pliers and a tape measure. Good
hunters would stick to a strong flexible stainless steel, but for myself I use

would recommend 20 gauge as it’s a nice middle ground between flexible
and strong. Don’t forget that trapped animals will try to chew, kick and
wiggle their way out of your snare trap!

This is a good rule of thumb but sometime the grass between the beats is tall. If it looks like the bunny is
jumping higher to cross it you need to lift your trap about half an inch. Short grass? Some people like to lower
it half an inch but I stick to 6.5 myself.
The height of the snare is important, so if needs be take a ruler. Get it wrong and the loop will simply be
jumped on or over, leaving it on the floor.
A little tip for making sure you don’t lose your snares is to put some paint on the top of your pegs for easy
identification.

for your wire to feed into. Then make a loop in a similar fashion to how you made your first around this peg.

showed how good they taught it.

Something that I wouldn’t of have thought I have a first aid kit, but one that is used by the whole family.

Preparing for civil unrest is much like preparing for any

disaster in that it is important that you make a plan.
First and formost an important question... Are you
going to bug out? or stay in and wait it out?

Bugging out to a bug out location outside the riot area

would be the best option, you are away from the vio-
lence. You will hopefully have a location ready out in
the countryside with enough food and water to ride it
out until it is safe to return. In your bug out location
you should have enough food to last a month, access to running water and some way to contact the outside
world and find out when it is safe to return.
 Water Storage Preparing Your Stomach
Water is the one supply you definitely can’t live without

The problem with water is that it’s heavy. It’s not the most
portable item to carry around, considering that each per-
son should have a minimum of 5 litres per day to use. But
aside from carrying a small amount, there are ways you
can prepare for better water stores in the event of a crisis
or disaster.
Water survival is important because water supplies can
become interrupted if there’s a lack of electricity, if a ter-
ror attack on our water supplies takes place, or if you’re
forced to head out to an area like the woods where you
can’t just walk over to a sink when you’re thirsty.
Short term water supplies can be met with water bottles, filters,
and water purification tablets. But if you’re prepared to bug
out to an area other than your home, make sure you scout out
water locations (like a stream or river) ahead of time so that
you don’t run the risk of running out.
There are some cool products on the market for short-term
water storage. These include portable options like water bricks
(which can actually be used for more than water), water socks,
and even backpacks with built in hydration packs.
Long-term water storage is important to plan for. Not only do
you and your family need water to survive, but you’ll need it
for your crops and animals as well as for cleaning and main-
taining proper hygiene.
You can invest in water storage tanks that are perfect for
indoor or outdoor use. Both should be BPA-free for safety
reasons, and if they’re exposed to light, then they should have
UV inhibitors in it so that your water isn’t broken down from
the light source.
You can get rainwater storage for the crops, and create a sort
of irrigation system to water your food without you having to
turn on a hose and use a sprinkler for this purpose. Rainwa-
ter can even be used as drinking water, provided it’s properly
cleansed and no contam-
inates have gotten into
your barrel.
Water stores have to be rotated out just like food – it won’t keep forever.
Make sure you label the dates on your water containers. Tap water will
keep for about half a year. Always check the water first no matter what
to ensure it looks clean. Rotate properly stored water once a year.
Make sure your containers keep out light and have a strong seal. In an
emergency situation, there are water bladders where you can safely fill
up your bathtub with a lot of water in a sealed, plastic container.
You’ll definitely want to look for certain types
of recipes that work with the kinds of foods
most preppers store – but also locate recipes
for your files that create meals your family
loves.
The primary focus for many preppers is on
beans, bread and canning recipes. But that’s
not your only option. You will probably be
storing lots of rice, freeze dried or dehydrated
foods.
You want to be able to turn those staples that
your family has worked hard to store into
an almost gourmet meal that you’d be proud
to serve to dinner guests during a normal
celebration.
Start organizing your recipes offline. Many people have them stored on sites like Pinterest, but if there’s no
electricity, you won’t be able to access those recipes at all. It’s better to
print them out and save them in a small filing storage container.
Organize your recipes according to what staples your family has on
hand. If you find a recipe that calls for something you don’t yet have,
add that item to your checklist of food storage items to get.
Put the recipes in categories for entrees, side dishes, breads and des-
serts. You might even want to have one for beverages if you’re able to
store different types of ingredients to make delicious drinks.
Too many preppers who are just starting out, think that emergency
food stores would mean you have to live on meals ready to eat or
plain meals that offer no sense of enjoyment.
During a crisis situation, you want to be able to provide your family
with the most normal routine possible. Sometimes that means being
able to serve
up favorite family meals. You may have to create sub-
stitutions for certain things, but it’s better than living
on a protein bar day after day.
Using your prepper food stores means rotating items
out of commission, and you can invest in survival
cookbooks and test out your prepper culinary skills
using a variety of methods – including solar ovens and
other forms of cooking without electricity.
If you have children, make sure you have them help
you compile a list of their favorites, too. They can even
help you make a test batch to see if it passes muster
with the whole family and earns its spot in the recipe
container!
Outdoor Survival Gadgets
Surviving in any outdoor situation means that you have to have the gadgets that can help you. These are all
items that contribute to your safety and need for food, water and shelter. These are gadgets that will make
your experience in survival mode easier.

A solar powered charger for your cell phone and radio will help ensure that you can call for help if you need
to. There are gadgets available that are a 3 in 1. This means you can
charge your cell phone, have a radio and a flashlight all contained
one easy to carry gadget.

Portable solar cookers are great gadgets to have. They set up any-
where and provide a method for you to cook on and boil water for
clean supplies in an instant. You can use this at home too when the
power’s gone out.

A flint and knife bracelet is the perfect pairing for survival experts.
It’s a little corded bracelet that fits around your wrist and gives you
immediate access to a fire starter and a sharp knife right away.

A tent hammock is another gadget that’s perfect for survivalists to

own. Not only do you get protection from outside intruders like
mosquitoes, but you’re lifted off the ground to protect you from wa-
ter or land animals.
