Do’s
Do Exercise Electrical Safety Before plugging in something, ensure sure the plug has a ground
prong.
Do Wear Closed-Toed Shoes To protect your feet from spills, hot substances, and heavy objects,
wear shoes with closed toes.
Do wear protective hand gear or gloves to protect your hands from any contamination or
substances.
Be punctual. There will be a brief introduction to the experiment you will undertake that day at
the start of the lab time. If you are not up to speed when the job begins, it is unfair to your
partner and others in the lab.
Be careful as well as mindful of what is happening in the laboratory.
Do Take Notes Lab notebooks aid in the organization of data, the documentation of
experiments, and the facilitation of thought.
Handling Glassware Carefully ensures that findings are not affected by chemical residue from
earlier studies.
Do Employ Fire Safety When doing experiments that entail heating, boiling, or burning
chemicals or other specimens, open flames from Bunsen burners or alcohol lamps are required.
Wear Goggles or Safety Glasses to protect your eyes in the event of an accident or spill.
Properly disposed broken glassware and other sharp objects immediately in container
Don’ts
Do not eat, drink, smoke, or apply cosmetics in the laboratory. Being in the lab gets your hands
dirtier than you can imagine, and you are reluctant to ingest any substances by accident.
Do not engage in jockeying when you are in the laboratory, instead behave and follow
instructions.
Do not disturb or surprise anybody working in the laboratory.
Cell phone or earbud use is not permitted in the active area of the laboratories or during
experimental activities.
If the processes being performed are risky, do not operate alone in a laboratory.
Do not try to intake or intentionally sniff chemicals. It may lead to more complications.
Do not remove any equipment or chemicals form the laboratory.
The performance of unauthorized experiments is strictly prohibited.
Do not pour chemical waste into sink drains or water baskets.
Never block access to exist or emergency equipment.
