1. KNOWLEDGE
 Learners must be able to Describe the reasons that led to SA and African colonialism
 They also be able to explain different terms under this topic terms like (control,
colonialism colony)
 They lastly be able to Critically discuss their views on how the resolutions of the Berlin
Conference still affects Africa even today.

2. SKILLS
 Learners must be able to recognize terms and
sources (written or drawn) that relate to this

topic
 Furthermore, they must be able to analyse
those sources and be able to answer questions
that relate to them

 Equally so they must also be able to show awareness to the history of Africa.

1. INTRODUCTION
Then learners will be asked to summarise the last lesson that they had the day before. Then
learners will be asked to summarise the last lesson that they had the day before. After that the
teacher will write two terms on the chalkboard and ask the learners to please. Define them in
their own knowledge.
e.g. Missionaries - A missionary is a member of a religious group sent into an area to promote
their faith or perform ministries of service, such as education.

2. DEVELOPMENT
Step 1 : The teacher will write 4 concepts on the chalk board and ask if the learners can
Explain them based on
their previous knowledge and later after the learners have answered the teacher will then give
the correct
definitions for these concepts.

Examples of the terms and the possible answers:


Missionaries - A missionary is a member of a religious group sent into an area to promote their
faith or perform ministries of service, such as education.
Explore - travel through (an unfamiliar area) to learn about it.
Discovered - find unexpectedly or during a search.

Step 2: The teacher will display slides on the board which will now deeply speak about the
colonisation of Africa.
And who played a part in it.

Reasons for colonialism:


The reasons for African colonisation were mainly economic, political and religious. During this
time of colonisation, an economic depression was occurring in Europe, and powerful countries
such as Germany, France, and Great Britain, were losing money.

Step 3: : At this point the teacher will group learners into groups of 10, they will be given only 5
Minutes to discuss these topics and they will all be expected to come forward and make a 3
Minute’s presentation on what they have understood so far on the topic covered above.

3. CONSOLIDATION/LESSON CONCLUSION
 Summarise the lesson.
 Allow learners to ask questions if they do have questions.
 Hand out the leaner’s homework activity and provide instructions on what must be done
and when to return.

I did not experience any challenges during the presentation of my lesson.

3. How could you improve on the presentation of your lesson?


 By Effective Use of Technology: Integrate technology tools that enhance the learning
experience. For example, interactive online quizzes, educational apps, and digital
simulations can make complex concepts more accessible and engaging.

4. Did you experience any interesting incidents during the presentation of your
lesson?
Yes, I did.
 Unexpected Questions: Students surprised me with questions I hadn't anticipated. It
was a great opportunity to showcase my depth of knowledge and ability to think on my
feet.

 Surprising Reactions: I got a range of reactions from students. They were more excited,
than I anticipated. Skilfully navigated these reactions with patience and understanding
led to productive discussions.
