Introduction

To know about this light producing machine that is meant to enhance the light of

your road. It also shows how simple steps contribute advantage on the daily life of a

person. This device is created to add more light while travelling at night. It is compose of

parts which is the propeller, dynamo, wire, headlight and switch. This can be a helpful

accessory for your motorcycle wherever and whatever time you travel. The coil will

rotate with the rotor relative to the stator when the bicycle is in motion and generate

electricity that is transmitted to the light, and the light improves the enjoyment and safety

of riding the bicycle (Chiu, 2001).

This mechanism works when a motorcycle runs at speed and the propeller will

rotate. The propeller is connected to the dynamo so when the dynamo is rotated by the

propeller’s rotary motion, it converts mechanical energy to electrical energy that makes

the headlight turn on. The switch is only use when you don’t need to light it just like

daytime. This device is simple to create but a very useful device for anyone. This device

can only be lighten at a running motorcycle or a tricycle.A first sensing circuit receives

the output signal from the sensor and provides a first control signal when the output

signal exceeds a first predetermined value (Koharcheck, 2006)

Today, with the heavy use of automobiles combined with the burning of fossil fuels,

Increasing problems are affecting human health and climate change as a result of air Pollution

Pedal power energy has been in use since the nineteenth century. Aside from Transportation,

pedal power energy can be applied to a tremendous variety of jobs that Contribute to less

pollution and conserve energy in the home. Pedal power uses the most powerful muscles in the

body: the quads, hamstrings, and calves converting ninety Five percent of exertion into energy.

Studies have been Conducted in pedal-powered generator, Amdt (2014) modified Mix

single-rate/altered rigging bicycle that functioned admirably. Because of its capacity to hold a cog

on either side of the back wheel. The chain on the right is driven by the pedals, while an included

chain the left twists the engine. As an afterthought that is driven by the pedals, she utilized a

freewheel which turns the wheel when she’s accelerating yet permits it to continue turning

forward, without the chain moving, when she’s drifting or accelerating in reverse.

On the left half of the wheel, she connected an altered machine gear-piece which tums

toward the chain the length of the wheel is turning. The use of pedal-powered generator is not a

new technology, however connecting it into a bicycle to produce the electricity is just recently

being able to interest some researchers. This technology is being significant because of the

benefits from it. Creating this technology makes a lot of sense in producing electricity.

This study aims to produce electricity on pedal-powered generator. The study is simple

yet it is helpful for us. The pedal-powered generator can produce by as much as 100 watts of

continuous output by a normal person. An athlete can produce as much as 300-400 watts of

continuous output. This study can also make a person using this technology to be physically fit.

Conceptual Literature

A bicycle lighting system comprising a dynamo generator, integrated rechargeable batteries and an

integrated electronic circuitry, the bicycle being an exemplary embodiment of pedal-driven vehicles

provided with standard front and rear lamps. Hitherto known systems operate with conventional dynamos

having an efficiency far too low to provide power to energize lamps and simultaneously charge batteries at

speeds below 15 kmph. The inventive generator is constructed such that a rotating magnetic-circuit

arrangement with a stationary air-core coil and specially defined pole shoes achieve 90% efficiency

(Schwaller, 1999).

At 5 to 7 kmph, at least 4 W energy is available for energizing lamps and rapidly charging

batteries. From standstill to approximately 5 kmph, the batteries energize the lamps. The electronic

circuitry comprises a converter having a special voltage set-up and voltage set-down function such that for

a determinate output voltage, the input voltage can be lesser than, equal to or greater than the determinate

output voltage. Above 5 kmph, energy apportioning for energizing lamps and simultaneously charging

batteries in ratios of 1-2:1 is rendered possible.

Related Literature

A generator for a bicycle includes a rotor abutting a wheel of the bicycle. A coil is

mounted in the rotor and electrically connected to two bearings that are mounted on the

opposite sides of the rotor by two inner wires. A stator has a shaft extending through the

two bearings and a permanent magnet sleeved onto the shaft and corresponding to the

coil. Two electrical ring connectors are respectively mounted on opposite ends of the

shaft and electrically connected to the bearings. A light is mounted on the bicycle and

electrically connected to the electrical ring connectors. The coil will rotate with the rotor

relative to the stator when the bicycle is in motion and generate electricity that is

transmitted to the light, and the light improves the enjoyment and safety of riding the

bicycle (Chiu, 2001).

A bicycle fork assembly includes a steering tube configured and arranged to be

rotatably mounted to a front part of a frame of a bicycle. A fork crown is secured to a

lower end of the steering tube and includes first and second arms that extend laterally in

opposite directions from the center portion. First and second suspension systems are

secured to the arms of the fork crown and a lighting system is integrated into at least one
of the first and second suspension systems. The lighting system preferably includes two

lights that are configured such that the respective light beams overlap to provide a single

operating beam to illuminate a travel path (Houweling, 2007).

A bicycle light in which a single housing contains a light source emitting light in

a first direction, a battery providing energy to the light source, and, a lense mechanism

adapted to direct light from said light source in a second direction being substantially

perpendicular to said first direction. In one embodiment of the invention, the lense uses

the single light source to generate two light beams beings substantially parallel to each

other. A snap clip is used to secure the housing to a spoke of a wheel of the bicycle such

that said first direction is substantially parallel to said spoke, and the re-directed light

from the light source is substantially parallel to the ground (Robert, 2005).

A bicycle lighting apparatus comprises a computer housing adapted to be

mounted to a bicycle, a computer housed within the computer housing, and an integrated

lighting device that is controlled by the computer (Takeda, 2007).

A bicycle light assembly is electrically connected to a dynamo. The bicycle light

assembly has a lamp housing mountable to a portion of the bicycle. An input portion is

disposed on the lamp housing and electrically connected to the dynamo for inputting a

dynamo output signal and for outputting an input signal. A regulator circuit is electrically
connected to the input portion for regulating the input signal to a regulated signal. A light

source is electrically connected to the regulator circuit for lighting the periphery and an

output portion being disposed on the lamp housing and electrically connected to the

regulator circuit for outputting the regulated signal. The output portion has at least one

auxiliary electrical output connector for outputting the regulated signal to at least one

auxiliary electrical device electrically connected to the at least one auxiliary electrical

output connector (Kitamura, 2005).

We demonstrate a novel structure of a flapping-based piezoelectric power

generator for bicycle pedals. The flapping structure and the circuit configuration have

been proposed, and the effectiveness of the proposed structure is experimentally

evaluated by the bicycle trainer. In the proposed structure, the number of lights can be

freely selected by changing the number of flapping poles, and the light colors of the front

and rear LEDs can be automatically switched by using the pedaling force. In addition, the

flapping-based piezoelectric power generator can be easily applied to the commonly-used

bicycle pedals.

The frictionless bicycle power generation mechanism Is rotated relatively by the

stator of coil and rotor of magnets each other. Utilize Fleming’s right-hand rule, the coil

cutting magnetic field lines will be generated power generation. This is a very practical

and frictionless rotation wheel of power generation. This paper known that the bicycle

speed exceeds 21 km/hr, then the maximum charging voltage is all more than 3V when

charge 140 seconds in the three capacitors of 6600, 9400 and 12700 (μF). The maximum

charging voltage is more than 3V, then can drive 3 volt LED lights to light. And the
results obtained by the experimental, the power generation mechanism suitable for the

impedance of 400 to 500 ohms, the bicycle power generation mechanism can obtain a

large instantaneous power about 0.03 watts to 0.058 watts under this load.

A generator powered by a stationary bicycle for the purposes of generating

electricity for fitness club appliances is considered. A generator is connected to a

stationary bicycle in such a way as the circular rotation of the front wheel rotates the coils

of wires inside the generator between the poles of the magnets inside the generator. The

resulting Direct Current is channeled to the attached battery bank and converted into

different usable DC voltage levels as well as AC voltage, just to increase the number of

electrical appliances possible to connect.

Experiments in human ergometry have established recumbent bicycles as one of

the most efficient forms of power generation, while providing a higher degree of comfort

than conventional bicycles. It was determined that power storage in a battery could be a

lifesaver at sea. By applying recumbent-bicycle technology to a generator and

powerstorage apparatus, a new device would be created, the human-powered generator

for lifeboats. The design of this human-powered generator, or HPG, is documented in this

report. The design process progressed from a conceptual stage through the completion of
a prototype. Using mostly 6061-T6 aluminum, a lightweight, foldable apparatus was built

which resembled a recumbent bicycle, and would charge a 24-volt battery. The human

power requirements were 120 watts at 70 rpm.(George Alexander HoltMassachusetts

Institute of Technology, 1988)

The insufficiency of energy is a global challenge so also is the effect of burning

fuel to generate power a threat to the earth. Hence, the need for a sustainable and

renewable source of energy that can be used to supplement and with time substitute the

burning of fuels to generate power. The research work is focused on optimizing on

existing design models of the Chas Campbell free energy generator by incorporating a

bicycle system for initial excitation as opposed to electric power. The system is supported

with a flywheel which will store kinetic energy to keep the system working before the

motor is connected to the generator. The system generated a power of 96w and stayed

self-inducting at maximum cyclist speed of 58rpm for a period of 35 seconds. The kinetic

energy stored in the flywheel as a result of the flywheel is the major determinant of the

duration of self-inducting for the system.( Olakunle F Isamotu, Oluwafunmilola I

Ogunlari Acta Technica Corviniensis-Bulletin of Engineering 13 (4), 99-104, 2020)

With the promise of having the least carbon footprint, as well as the capability to

reach remote places. Several technologies offer ways to harness energy for
supplementing the need of energy in some auxiliary devices of bicycles such as lights and

horns, however several points where force is applied, having the potential of generating

energy, is left untapped. The researchers proposed the characterization and fabrication of

an energy harvesting device using a linear electromagnetic generator attached inside the

suspension system of a mountain bicycle. The generators were placed on the shock

absorber supporting the frame from the rear end, and another one attached on the fork of

the steering sector of the bicycle. Experimentation was conducted within 10 kilometers of

travel through a smooth and a rough pavement, maintained with a 20kph speed, 0.091Wh

– 1.039Wh of energy in smooth terrain and 0.477Wh – 1.241 Wh in rough terrain

respectively, The suspension system was also validated to withstand rider weights of up

to 77kg within the recommended sag percentage – proving its proposition to be a

prospect of supplying electricity to power banks while being utilized as a suspension

system within the rider’s comfort. The prototype is anticipated to bring an impact as an

effective power source for charging or supplying devices such as lights, horns, as well as

GPS devices and cellular devices.

Vibration is a widely existing mechanical phenomenon containing enormous

energy that can be transformed into electricity without polluting the environment.

However, most current mechanical energy harvesters only can scavenge energy from a

specific direction, resulting in the waste of energy from other directions. Here, we

propose a triboelectric-electromagnetic hybrid generator built on freestanding magnet

(FMHG), which is able to harvest low-frequency vibration energy from arbitrary in-plane

directions. Besides, it can detect vibration direction from periodical or pulse movement.
Under the excitation of shaker, maximum power of 85.7 µW and 3.29 m W are obtained

by one electrode pair of the TENG and EMG respectively, which can charge a capacitor

of 20 µF to 7 V rapidly benefiting from the hybrid configuration. The hybrid generator

can light up commercial LEDs driven by human running and bicycle braking, as well as

distinguish leg movement in eight directions, proving its application potential in building

up self-powered sensing systems such as alarms, environmental monitor and human-

machine interface.( Xuexian Chen, Hang Guo, Hanxiang Wu, Haotian Chen, Yu Song,

Zongming Su, Haixia Zhang Nano Energy 49, 51-58, 2018)

The broad knowledge types that must be learned In technology education include

technological knowledge (TK) and knowledge about technology (KaT). TK is acquired

and utilized along with the practical and experiential learning activities characteristic of

technology education. KaT is knowledge of the technology itself, including its

relationship with society and the environment and its history, and has features that are

relevant to the correct evaluation and selection of technology. (C Yata, T Kawaji, J

Moriyama, K Ueno EDULEARN21 Proceedings, 2226-2235, 2021)

Despite not having the whole country, electrified, Power Generation companies

still experience shortage in supplying enough power to the grid. This in turn results to

rotational brownouts that we experience especially during summer. As we know, most of

the daily activities today require a stable supply of power. Automated factories may lose

millions of pesos when they are affected by rotational brownouts. That in turn affects the

economy and leads to more problems. The proponents aim to develop a prototype that is
used to convert mechanical energy into electrical energy. On the other hand, it is used to

harness electrical energy by means of the human effort in doing cardio workout by using

stationary bike. This study shows the design and development of an alternative source of

electricity in supplying one household that is in rural areas. With the use stationary bike,

the user can be productive in different ways beside of being active in cardio workout but

also productive in such away the calorie burned upon using the pedal can produce a

certain amount of voltage that is a part of power.(Ron Edward Guia, Aodrel Dave Ilagan,

Lorenz Gerald Sauz, Engr Favis Joseph Balinado).

Modern electric motors for road electric vehicles (automobiles, scooters,

bicycles), light rail transit (street cars, trolley lines, subway trains), guided transit systems

and elevators have been discussed. The paper aims at various types of rotary brushless

motors, direct electromechanical drives and practical solutions to light traction systems.

Modern permanent magnet (PM) motor technologies offer diversity of cutting-edge

technology brushless motors, i.e., motors with one slot coil pitch windings, transverse

flux motors, coreless disc type motors and PM assisted synchronous reluctance motors.

There is a wide interest in liquid cooled traction motors and inverters as those apparatus

minimize the volume of electromechanical drive systems and increase their power

density. Frequently, the traction motor for road vehicles is integrated with a solid state

converter. Light traction with linear motors has not been considered. Although induction

motors are the most popular motors, PM brushless motors are more efficient, more

compact, have better steady-state and dynamic performance at low speeds and are
excellent motors for direct drive traction application. (Jacek F Gieras, Nicola Bianchi

With urban cities grappling with the problem of energy Shortages and many

regions in developing countries still remaining unlit and with zero access to electricity,

Renewable Energy Sources are the need of the hour. Pedal Power energy is one of the

practical solutions to the problem, since bicycles are the main source of transport,

especially in rural areas and even in an urban setting, exercise bikes in gyms can be used

effectively to generate energy. This paper focuses on using pedal powered energy to

power lighting devices, specifically targeting those rural areas that remain unlit and in the

dark, even a decade into the 21 st century. In this paper, a simple system is proposed,

where batteries can be charged using power generated by pedaling a bicycle, and used to

power lighting. The pedal power system has several advantages over typical power

generation infrastructure. The technology is less expensive and does not require a fuel

supply chain connecting users to suppliers and long-term variable costs. It reduces the

need for wood fuel, further limiting the need to cut down trees and is environment

friendly. The mechanism is easy to operate and does not demand specialized tools or

equipment for servicing. Pedal Power is a non conventional source of energy that can be

used effectively to meet energy demands. It will help counter global problems that stem

from the rural population’s lack of access to energy and education.( Rajesh Kannan

Megalingam, Lekshmi M Nair, Meera Viswanath, Shreeja Sugathan 2012 IEEE Global

Humanitarian Technology Conference, 12-17, 2012).

Efforts to increase utilitarian bicycling—bicycling as an everyday mode of

transportation to a destination—have tended to focus on infrastructure, such as bike lanes,

cycle tracks, or bike parking. As highlighted in chapters 12, 13, and 14, some

communities have combined investments in infrastructure with programs to encourage

bicycling and policies that discourage driving. Other approaches aim to increase access to

bicycles, including the high-profile bikesharing programs discussed in chapter 9. Bike

planners and researchers have given little attention to the role of bicycle equipment.

Some argue that it has a limited role relative to other factors in promoting cycling. An

informal survey of bicycling experts in Europe suggests that innovations in equipment

would do little to increase the already high levels of bicycling there, especially to the

extent that risk of theft already limits the adoption of improved designs. Survey data from

the United States suggests that concerns relating to safety and distance are far greater

barriers to cycling and must be addressed before concerns over equipment will come into

play. But even if this is true, better equipment could improve the experience of bicyclists

in many ways, especially in places such as the United States where the typical bicycle

does a poor job of meeting the needs of everyday trips. Equipment, defined here to

include bicycles and their components, accessories that attach to bicycles, and those that

are worn by cyclists, can contribute to greater safety, convenience, comfort, and

enjoyment, potentially enhancing the effectiveness of other efforts to promote utilitarian

cycling.( Kristin Lovejoy, Susan Handy City cycling, 75-104, 2012)

Our goal for this project is to design and implement a bicycle power generator for

the DC House Project. The DC House Project is an initiative to bring safe and reliable
power to the billions of people around the world without electricity. This goal will be

accomplished by designing a safe and sturdy human powered stationary bicycle that

produces DC energy. The DC power generated can be stored via batteries and used by the

local population to use for lights and other utilities that many take for granted on a daily

basis. Bicycle Power Generators are not a new idea, with many created by hobbyist for

residential use with small scale energy in mind, to charge batteries in case of a power

outage or natural disaster. We are looking to expand upon these designs and build a DC

generator that will convert human power into electrical power. The objective is to build a

device that is safer and more power efficient. If our product design were to be built and

shipped to people across the globe, it would be imperative that it meets all the safety

specifications that any national commercial product entails. (Brandon Hayes, Louis

Goguely California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, 2011).

This paper presents a low speed permanent magnetic based generator which is

suitable for supplying generating power from bicycle motion and application in providing

energy for bicycle front and rear lights or electronics devices. The dynamo have a hub

axel, a hub housing rotatable mounted around the hub axel with bearing, a planetary drive

that increases the rotational speed of the permanent magnet, and the power generating

mechanism with coil fitted to hub axel that has connected to the output connector. In such

a hub dynamo, the magnet rotates faster than the bicycle wheel so that power output is

high even at the normal bicycle speeds.(This paper presents a low speed permanent

Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the number of bicycle users has increased,

raising concerns regarding bicycle safety. Although various small electronic devices have

been used to ensure bicycle safety, such devices require an external battery, which

introduces certain limitations such as recharging requirements. Several researchers have

investigated methods to sustainably harvest energy from bicycles. Triboelectric-

generator-based solutions, which can utilize the mechanical motion of a rolling tire can

serve as the auxiliary power source of small electronics or self-powered sensors.

However, research on practical and reliable bicycle-related triboelectric nanogenerators is

limited. In this study, a triboelectric bicycle tire (TBT) was developed, considering the
actual material/structure of commercial bicycle tires, and the novel electricity-generation

mechanism was clarified. As the TBT system had a fully inserted (packaged) structure, it

could generate extremely stable electrical output for 120,000 cycles. The electrical

performance was quantitatively analyzed depending on the design parameters and riding

situation. The findings demonstrated that the TBT system can be effectively used to

enhance bicycle safety; according to the peak magnitude and waveform data, the TBT

system can function as a self-powered bicycle pressure sensor. Second, the freestanding-

mode TBT system can be utilized as a self-powered bicycle safety light in real time,

demonstrated by its ability to power LEDs. J(in-ho Son, Deokjae Heo, Yeonsu Song,
