Story of Kan’an

Third Grade
In the teachings of Islam are known Thus we as Muslims must be obedient
two terms of morality, namely morality and devoted to both parents as long as they
mahmudah (praiseworthy morality) and invite for good. Arguing and speaking rudely
akhlaq mazmumah (reprehensible morality). to both parents is a reprehensible act. A child
One example of reprehensible morals is who disobeys his parents will be punished in
disobedience to parents. this world and the hereafter.
Who is Kan'an?
Kan'an was the son of Prophet Nuh who did not
want to obey his parents, even though his father was
a Prophet. Prophet Nuh As. was appointed an Apostle
when he was 500 years old. But in his preaching for
five centuries he only had as many as 80 followers.
Its people are very difficult to be invited to believe in
Allah SWT
Prophet Nuh As. pray that Allah will bring down the punishment. Allah
answered his prayer and ordered Nuh to build a boat. The Prophet Nuh's plan
to build a boat caused ridicule from his people because they thought it was very
strange to make a large boat in a barren area and it was difficult to get water.
The ridicule of Nuh did not only come from his people but his own son, who
was named Kan'an. Because he was carrying out Allah's orders, Prophet Nuh
kept working on building the boat until it was finished.
After the construction of the boat was finished, Allah made it rain. Slowly the
rain began to overrun the whole land. Prophet Nuh As. invites his son to board the
ship with the other people. However, Kan'an and most of his people still ignored
the invitation of the Prophet Nuh As. Only the believers would enter the ship.
The rain never stopped until finally there was a very overrun with a water
level that was almost the same as the height of the mountain. It was at that
time that the Prophet Nuh kept calling Kan'an to join his people who believed
and entered his boat. Kan'an stubbornly moved away from Prophet Nuh’s boat
and ran to the top of the highest mountain. However, the rain was getting
heavier and made the water even higher and submerged the mountain. So
Kan'an sinks with people who do not want to believe in Allah.
This story is an example of a child who does
not want to obey his parents until he is injured at
the end of his life. This incident should serve as a
warning for us not to be a child who is
disobedient to both parents. Every parent always
wants the good for their children. Therefore
children must respect and obey their parents, so
that their lives are safe in this world and the
hereafter.
