NOTE: ALL DIMENSIONS ARE IN MM VERSION 1A DA DATE: 616/11 PAGE 3 OF 6 PART - 2 DESCRIPTION OF SYSTEM: The system is designed to protect against fire under rim seal of floating roof in oll storage tanks and will be operated Automatically on fire detection, The System Consists of Premix Foam (Fluoro protein foam) with Head Valve, High Pressure Nitrogen Cylinder with Pressurized Special Polymeric Fire Detec Tube, Foam Water Nozzles, Pressure Gauge, Fixed Piping Etc... PART-3 WORKING PRINCIPLE: DESCRIPTION OF INDIRECT RELEASE SYSTEM: In Indirect Release System (IRS), the Fire DeTes tube is used as fire detection device. The Fire suppression agent is discharged through stainless steel(Gr. 316 L)piping as soon as the Fire DeTec tube ‘ruptures’. The Foam container will be pressurized & suppressant is discharged through strategically located nozzles within the protected hazard area. -Once pressurized Fire DeTec Tube Senses Fire, It Ruptures and results in Pressure drop in tube which opens Nitrogen cylinder valve -The Nitrogen propels the Premix Foam through the piping network to the Discharge Nozzles DOG# NFIFPF-135/11-06 REV VERSION 14 DATE: 6/6/11 PAGE 4 OF 6 PART -4 UNIQUE FEATURES: - Simple and Self Activating System, No Electrical Power is required for operation - Flexible Positioning ofthe Fire Detection Tube + Minimal Environmental Damages & Minimum Maintenance PART- 5 TECHNICAL DATA TTEM NO. PART 7 INSTALLATION: a, Skid: Install the skid by mounting on floating roof as per design requirements and securely fixing atthe skid base by 4 nos. M10 bolts & nuts, b. Fire DeTec tube: Pressutize & assemble the Fire DeTec tube to ‘Sbar as per manufacturer's recommendation, (Refer Appendix !) «Discharge piping & Nozzles: Piping size & Nozzle size shall be selected and installed as per manufacturer's recommendation PART 8 PERIODIC INSPECTION, TESTING AND MAINTENANCE INSPECTION GENERAL: The user shall cary out a programme of inspection and arrange a service and maintenance schedule, and keep records of the inspection and servicing, COMMENTARY AND RECOMMENDATION: The continued capability for effective performance of foam equipment depends on fully adequate maintenance procedures with, where possible, periodic testing. The variations in system design and equipment applications make it impossible to recommend anything other than general purpose procedures for periodic inspection. Installer should provide to the user a logbook in which record can be entered, DOC# NFIFPF-135/11-08 REV a wenn 1 DATE: 6/6/11 NAFFCO PAGE 6 OF 6 User's programme of inspection: The installer shall provide to the user an inspection programme for the user system and components and a schedule for the training of personnel in the use of the system. The Programme shall include instruction on the action to be taken in respect of faults COMMENTARY AND RECOMMENDATIONS The user's inspection programme is intended to detect fault at an early stage to allow rectification before the system may have to operate. PART 9 SERVICE AND MAINTENANCE SCHEDULE: The schedule shall be carried out by a competent person who shall provide to the user a signed, dated report of the inspection and advising any rectification carried out or needed COMMENTARY AND RECOMMENDATIONS A suitable schedule is as follows (a) Every six months Visual inspection of the unit Pipework. Examine externally above-ground pipework to determine its condition and that proper drainage pitch is maintained. Hydraulically pressure test normally dry pipework When visual inspection indicates questionable strength due to corrosion or mechanical damage. b.Every twelve months. Test the foam concentrate or solution for changes in constitution or characteristics and the formation of sediment or precipitate. Correct any deterioration according to the manufacturer's recommendations. c.As required by statutory regulation but otherwise as and when convenient. Internally inspect all tanks DOC# NFIFPF-136/11-08 REV. APPENDIX: | PRESSURE GAUGE CHECK VALVE Fire DeTec tube 20 mir.
