The development of plastics has improved life on earth and contributed to its current

state. The term plastic originally meant “pliable and readily molded”. In nature, polymers like
cellulose are made of long chains of molecules. During the London International Exhibition
in 1862, when Alexander Parkes presented the first man-made plastic. Until now, plastic is
still useable and we are still using it in our daily lives.

Plastics are a wide range of synthetic or semi-synthetic materials that use polymers as a main
ingredient. Their plasticity makes it possible for plastics to be molded, extruded,
or pressed into solid objects of various shapes. This adaptability, plus a wide range of other
properties, such as being lightweight, durable, flexible, and inexpensive to produce, has led to
its widespread use. Plastics typically are made through human industrial systems. Most
modern plastics are derived from fossil fuel-based chemicals like natural gas or petroleum;
however, recent industrial methods use variants made from renewable materials, such
as corn or cotton derivatives.

There have different plastic and they’re categorized according to where they belong. The 7
types of plastic are polyethylene terephthalate where soft drink bottles, medicine jars,
containers, clothing, and rope belong, then motor oil, shampoos, conditioner, and soap bottles
belong to high-density polyethylene. Polyvinyl chloride is used for all kinds of pipes, tiles,
human and pet toys, and oxygen masks, then low-density polyethylene examples was
plastic/cling wrap, garbage bags, grocery bags, and beverage cups, Next is polypropylene is
one the most durable types of plastic, examples are straws, bottle cups, packaging tape, and
disposable diapers. In addition, polystyrene is better known as Styrofoam, just like cups,
shipping, and product packaging egg cartons, and lastly the others type of plastics. These are
the basic common types of plastic.

This plastic pollution is a major environmental issue that can be addressed by being aware of
its dangers and taking steps to reduce waste. It occurs when enough plastic has gathered in an
area that affects the natural environment and harms plants, animals, or humans. Plastic has
toxic pollution that can damage the environment and cause land, water, and air pollution.
Also, plastic could block the streets and drains in our cities since it is almost everywhere. The
harm to the environment is long-lasting since plastic may take hundreds or even thousands of
years to decompose.

To prevent the spread of plastic we must use the 3 R’s Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle. We can
reduce the use of plastic bags and jute bags and carry paper bags to carry from the market, we
can also reuse discarded bottles and jars to store food items and water and lastly, we can
recycle all the plastics to make a creative staff like ballpen organizer and flower pot. we must
use proper disposal techniques dispones, for example, separating the biodegradable and non-
biodegradable items and disposing of them accordingly. This is some of the waste for us to
alternate from using plastics. Thus, this friendly alternative can be used to stop the usage of
plastic
