1. The marked price of a camera is $2 500. The camera is sold at a discount of 20% of its
marked price.
(a) Find the selling price of the camera. (2 marks)
(b) A profit of $400 is made by selling the camera. Find the percentage profit. (3 marks)

2. (a) There are some $1, $2 and $5 coins in a purse. The number of $2 coins is the same as
the number of $5 coins. If there are 13 coins and their total value is $33, find the
number of $1 coins. (5 marks)
(b) Peter has $120 and gives a portion of his money to his sister Susan. He spends half of
the remaining money and Susan spends one quarter of her money. If Peter has $10
more than Susan after spending the money, find the amount that Susan receives from
Peter. (5 marks)

4. 1 350 cm3 of water is poured into a container with uniformed cross-sections as shown in the
figure A. The water level is 9 cm.

(a) Find the base area of the container. (2 marks)

A rectangular block of 5 cm × 10 cm × 15 cm is placed inside the water container.
(b) If the block is totally immersed in the water (figure B), find the new water level.
(4 marks)
(c) If the block is placed so that the face with dimension 5cm × 10 cm is placed downward
and part of the block is not covered by water (figure C), find the new water level.

5. Let A(7, 5) be a point of the coordinate plane. B is the point obtained by rotating A about O
through 90o in an anti-clockwise direction. C is the point obtained by translating A t units
downward.
